Queen’s stark admission to Scott Morrison about Donald Trump

The Queen has reportedly complained to the Australian Prime Minister, Scott Morrison about Donald Trump’s landing onto her grass in his “big chopper”.

The American President insisted on flying into buckingham Palace in the country’s Marine One helicopter twice throughout his three-day trip.

The condition of the grass afterwards left scorch marks and divots across the before-perfect, manicured green lawns.

Her Majesty was reportedly left less than impressed.

“He had got off the plane and went straight to the palace to see the Queen, who led him out to the gardens and said: ‘Come and look at my lawn. “Absence of empathy”: Donald and Melania Trump under fire over photo with El Paso shooting victim

A backlash is building over Donald and Melania Trump after the US first lady posted a photo on Twitter showing the couple smiling broadly while holding a two-month-old baby whose parents were killed in the El Paso mass shooting.

On a visit to the Texan city last week, the president could be seen flashing a thumbs-up when posing with the infant as well as hospital staff and first responders.

The child, named Paul, lost his parents Jordan and Andre Anchondo after they attempted to shield him from the bullets in the August 3 shooting. The boy was discharged from University Medical Center, but reportedly brought back at the request of White House for Trump’s visit.

I met many incredible people in Dayton, Ohio & El Paso, Texas yesterday. "I never saw any evidence of marriage": New book claims Donald and Melania Trump lead separate lives

A new book on Donald Trump has claimed that he and his wife Melania Trump live separate lives, with the 45th US President and First Lady only remaining together out of an arrangement.

Following his commercially successful expose Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House, Michael Wolff has released another book on Trump’s presidency.

In new book Siege: Trump Under Fire, Wolff claims that the speculations surrounding the First Lady – including rumours of a body double, an extended hospital stay, delayed relocation to the White House and multiple on-record slip-ups – are indications that the Trumps’ relationship is merely for publicity purposes.

Wolff told The Australian that the couple’s marriage is a “deal” that is akin to the rumoured relationship contract between Hollywood stars Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.

The book, which cites more than 100 sources, features Trump’s former director campaign and adviser Steve Bannon.

“I never saw any evidence of a marriage,” Bannon said as quoted in the book.

He told Wolff that most mentions of the First Lady “drew a puzzled look from Trump, as if to say, ‘How is she relevant?’”

Wolff also claimed that the First Lady’s delayed move from New York to the White House also spoke volumes.

“Indeed, a distraught Melania, repeatedly assured by her husband during the campaign that there was no possibility he would win, had originally refused to move to Washington,” Wolff wrote.

“And, in fact, the First Lady was not really in the White House. It had taken Melania almost six months to officially relocate from New York to Washington, but that was in name only.”

However, many news outlets have expressed doubts over the claims in Wolff’s new book.

“The book is full of stuff that is lurid and sensational, but so dubious in its attributions that even in a review setting I’m afraid to repeat them,” wrote Matt Taibbi of Rolling Stone.

According to CNN political analyst Ryan Lizza, the book also contains “factual errors that mar the author’s credibility”.

While Trump has not commented on the new Siege book, he rejected Wolff’s claims in Fire and Fury, describing the book as “the Fake Book of a mentally deranged author, who knowingly writes false information”.

Melania Trump slams critics: “Focus on what I do, not what I wear”

In what is considered a rare moment, Melania Trump has fired back at those criticising her outfit choices during her most recent trip to Africa.

Melania, 48, took to Twitter to post a video of her addressing the backlash she has received over her wardrobe, which many people believed to be tone-deaf and arrogant. But the video, which shows the First Lady in Egypt, has prompted even more criticism after declaring: “I want to talk about my trip and not what I wear. That’s very important what we do, what we’re doing with US aid, what I do with my initiatives.

“I wish people would focus on what I do, not what I wear.”

.@FLOTUS Melania Trump: "I wish people would focus on what I do, not what I wear." pic.twitter.com/X3k7MqhYmO
— The Hill (@thehill) October 7, 2018

The criticism from news and social media users started when Melania was photographed wearing a white pith helmet, which has historical ties with Africa’s colonisers.

“It was the headgear that attracted most attention,” wrote The Guardian. “Pith helmets – so-called because they are made of the material sholapith – were worn by European explorers and imperial administrators in Africa, parts of Asia and the Middle East in the 19th century before being adopted by military officers, rapidly becoming a symbol of status – and oppression.”

Users on social media hilariously compared the First Lady with film characters such as Dr Rene Emile Belloq from Indiana Jones and Michael Jackson from his music video for Smooth Criminal.

Many others were quick to point out how she exclusively supported European designers instead of showcasing the work of local African creators.

The backlash, which accused Melania of reinforcing colonialist behaviour, began a viral #FLOTUSInAfricaBingo hashtag – where Twitter users began to list the different stereotypical attitudes of tourists when visiting Africa.

Melania Trump wearing a pith helmet on her trip to "Africa" is more than a silly sartorial choice. It’s tired and it’s old and it’s inaccurate,” Dr Dionne told The New York Times.

But while her fashion choices were ignorant, many raised the question as to what Melania actually does.

Her #BeBest campaign was labelled as confusing as the former model wanted to raise awareness on the issue of cyberbullying but given her husband's behaviour on Twitter and his notoriety of attacking people through the internet, the campaign fell short.

Many also drew comparisons to a campaign that was in place during Barack Obama’s run and noted the similarities between the two.

Even throughout President Trump’s campaign for the top position, Melania was given very little spotlight as Donald’s daughter Ivanka Trump was given the title of “unofficial First Lady.”

During her visit to Africa she was asked to comment on Brett Kavanaugh, the man who the President picked for the Supreme Court even after he was accused of sexual harassment. She was a woman of few words as she said that she is “against any kind of abuse or violence.”

She went on to deny the claims that Donald Trump labelled Haiti and other African nations as “s**thole countries.”

So, while Melania asks the world to focus on her work and not her style choices, the question that people are begging to know is, what is her work? And what is it that the First Lady has achieved since coming into the role?

This isn’t the first time Melania has sparked backlash over something she has decided to wear, as in June, she was heavily criticised on a global level for wearing a khaki Zara coat with the words “I REALLY DON’T CARE, DO U?” during her visit to the children affected by America’s immigration crisis.

During that time, the President caused an uproar over a policy that separated immigrant children from their parents after they were detained at the US border.

The jacket was said to be complicit and tone-deaf as the words emblazoned on the back were inappropriate for the occasion.

But one thing Melania has gotten right is that people should be focusing on the achievements and work of the First Lady rather than what she chooses to wear.

New video sparks crazy Melania Trump body double theory

A new video of Melania Trump has prompted fresh claims the US First Lady is using a body double.

The August 24 footage, which shows US president Donald Trump and his wife boarding Air Force One in Columbus, Ohio, has conspiracy theorists arguing the appearance and body language of the woman in the clip is different to the “real” Mrs Trump.

Does this look like Melania? pic.twitter.com/2YXsMh5D6u
— The Resistance (@nightlypolitics) August 25, 2018

Sceptics pointed to the fact the woman’s hair seemed to be darker than the First Lady’s.

“Not her. You can see it in the round face and the ‘tummy’. Where is Melania Trump? US First Lady responds to conspiracy theories about her absence

US First Lady Melania Trump hasn’t been seen in public for nearly three weeks and speculation about her lengthy absence was mounting online.

To shut down the theories about her whereabouts, Melania has confirmed that she is indeed still at the White House.

She tweeted: “I see the media is working overtime speculating where I am & what I'm doing. Rest assured, I'm here at the @WhiteHouse w my family, feeling great, & working hard on behalf of children & the American people!”

Melania’s last public appearance was 21 days ago on May 10, when she joined her husband to welcome three Americans who had been detained in North Korea back to the US.

On May 14, she underwent kidney surgery at Walter Reed National Military medical centre.

She remained at the medical centre for the remainder of the week to recover and her communications director, Stephanie Grisham, said “there were no complications”.

On Wednesday, Grisham told Business Insider that the First Lady “is doing great” despite her long absence from the public eye.

However, official statements did not stop the stream of conspiracy theories about her absence, suggesting that she may have undergone a more serious medical procedure or fled back to New York after her surgery.

Grisham told Politico that the White House “deals with conspiracy theories all the time” and reiterated that “she was hospitalised for almost a week and is now home recovering”.

At the end of June, Melania will attend a summer picnic for members of Congress and their families.

Donald Trump jokes Melania may be next to leave the White House

US President Donald Trump has proved he has a sense of humour about himself, poking fun at his recent staff issues and a meeting with Kim Jong-un at the annual Gridiron Club dinner in Washington DC.

Trump began his speech at the bipartisan dinner by joking about the departure of communications director Hope Hicks and his son-in-law Jared Kushner having his security clearance downgraded.

“Another calm week at the White House,” he said, “we finally have it running like a finetuned machine.”

“We were late tonight because Jared could not get through security,” Trump joked.

“So many people have been leaving the White House. It’s invigorating since you want turnover. I like chaos. It really is good. Who’s going to be the next to leave? Steve Miller, or Melania?”

Trump continued, revealing his staff were worried that he couldn’t do self-deprecating humour, to which he replied: “I told them not to worry. Nobody does self-deprecating humour better than I do.”

He wasn’t afraid to poke fun at his public image, saying he talked to Kim Jong-un but that the North Korean dictator would be facing “the risk of dealing with a madman.’’

Trump joked he’d offered Jeff Sessions a ride to the dinner, but that the attorney general had “recused himself”, a little dig about the tense relationship between the pair since Sessions recused himself from the Russia probe.

Trump then launched into his favourite subject – the media.

He started by calling them “quality people”, adding, “It’s been a very tough year for CNN. They’ve lost a tremendous amount of credibility this year. And your best reporter, Steve Bannon. That guy leaked more than the Titanic. Boy did he leak.”

He also gave a shout out to his Vice President Mike Pence, saying his comedy talent was as a straight man.

“He is very straight!” said Trump, continuing, “I really am very proud to call him The Apprentice,” Mr Trump said of his VP. “But lately he’s showing a particularly keen interest in the news these days. He is asking has he been impeached yet? I don’t like that.”

It is tradition for the president to attend one Gridiron dinner.

What am I supposed to do with this gift? And everyone cleared out and no one would come and take the box. Can you spot the important thing missing from the Trumps’ Christmas card?

The US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania’s Christmas card has caused a few raised eyebrows.

Christmas trees, check. Smiling couple, check. Happy children, wait, hang on... where is their 11-year-old son Barron?

It seems that Barron was not included in the couple’s Christmas portrait, which will be used for their official Christmas cards this year.

Trump’s Twitter followers started asking if he was lost, or whether they had just forgotten him. But it’s not the first time Melania has kept him out of the spotlight.

Earlier this month the Trump’s four older children were included in a family portrait, but Barron was absent. Being the youngest child, Melania has explained in the past that she wants to keep him out of the public eye, even though Barron was present at the annual White House turkey pardon at the end of November.

Is this just a case of a mother keeping her child away from public scrutiny? Or do you think something else is at play? We would love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
