Olympic hopeful killed at just 25
<p dir="ltr">Japanese triathlete Tsudoi Miyazaki has died at the age of 25.</p>
<p dir="ltr">The Olympic hopeful was riding her bike in Orleans, a city in France when she was struck by a car on Wednesday.</p>
<p dir="ltr">“World Triathlon and the Japan Triathlon Union want to offer our deepest condolences to Ms. Miyazaki family, friends, coaches and teammates,” a statement from World Triathlon read.</p>
<p dir="ltr">“The thoughts of all the Triathlon Family are with you all in these terrible times.”</p>
<p dir="ltr">French police are continuing their investigation into the horrific death with details yet to be released. </p>
<p dir="ltr">Japan Triathlon Union has also sent out extra resources to assist the police with the investigation. </p>
<p dir="ltr">The 25-year-old was ranked 142nd in the women’s World Triathlon Rankings.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Before her tragic death, she was hoping to win some medals at both the 2024 Paris Olympics and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.</p>
<p dir="ltr">She had also won the Japan U23 Triathlon Championships in 2019. </p>
<p dir="ltr">Her final race was on Sunday at the World Cup race in Pontevedra, Spain where she finished in 50th place.</p>
