"It's not the time for jokes": Bride humiliated by groom's prank at the altar

A thoughtless groom has been slammed online for "humiliating" his bride with a "cheap" prank as they exchanged vows on their big day.

A video of the painful "joke" was captured by a wedding guest and shared to TikTok, where thousands of people have flocked to the comments to condemn the groom's actions.

The video shows a happy couple standing on the altar, as the groom is instructed to read his vows to his bride.

He explains he has written them on a piece of paper as he reaches inside his jacket, while the bride beams with excitement.

However, her face quickly dropped as her groom pulled out a piece of paper with the words "HELP ME!" written, in what he explained was supposed to be a joke.

His bride was furious however, as she hit him with her flower bouquet, as the groom said, "I'm only kidding, it's a joke."

"It's not funny," she began to respond before the video cut off.

The woman who shared the video, a life coach named Shawnda, said she has "no respect" for the "kind of man" who would "humiliate" his bride on her special day to try to "get a cheap laugh".

"I have no respect for the kind of man that takes that day, that opportunity, to get themselves a cheap laugh," she said.

"It's not the time for jokes. A 'help me' sign like she's holding you hostage? The crowd was dry."

"It wasn't even worth it, the juice wasn't even worth the squeeze. You humiliated this woman for what? So the one woman holding the camera could give a little laugh?"

The video has been viewed over 800,000 times, with countless people flocking to the comments to slam the groom's callous actions on the couple's big day.

One person wrote, "Her face... She was crushed," while another added, "She was so excited to hear those vows too."

"The way the bride is genuinely excited to hear what he has to say until she realises," someone else said alongside a crying emoji.

"I would've walked out," a fourth comment read, while a fifth added, "Why do these people beg for a girl to go out with them, cry if she tries to leave, propose to her, spend a tons of money on a wedding then do this?"

Bindi Irwin’s unexpected wedding news

Bindi Irwin has opened up about the future of her relationship with husband Chandler Powell, sharing that the two have every intention of renewing their vows.

The beloved Australian conservationist wed Chandler in March 2020, just before Australia’s COVID-19 restrictions saw weddings restricted to include no more than five people. This meant, of course, that the happy couple could not have some of their nearest and dearest share in their happy day.

“Personally, I'd love to renew our vows one day when Grace is older,” Bindi explained in a candid interview with Hello! Magazine. “It would be lovely to have our closest friends and family with us to celebrate.”

And while there may have been no small number of absences at the ceremony, Bindi and Chandler were far from alone, with Bindi adding that “our animals are part of our family. Even though we couldn't have all the human guests we wanted at our wedding, we were grateful to spend the day with the wildlife we love so dearly.

“Getting married during the pandemic was certainly a strange experience, but an important reminder that love always wins.”

In 2020, Bindi had shared a post to social media about the “very difficult decision” to go ahead with their wedding with the reduced guest list, and wrote of how they were “encouraging the world to hold onto hope and love, which will carry us forward.”

Now, it seems, the wildlife warrior is ready to take that hope and to move forward, especially as “we have our gorgeous daughter which makes persevering with our wedding even sweeter.”

She didn’t have any specifics to share about the next ceremony, but Bindi did spend some time in her interview reflecting on the 2020 event, sharing everything from the story of her dress to the emotion of her brother walking her down the aisle.

“Ever since I was a little girl I've known that I wanted a wedding dress similar to my mum's gorgeous gown,” Bindi confessed, going on to note that the gown in question had been in the family for almost 60 years. She went on to reveal that her dress, one created by an Australian boutique, was “even more perfect than I had imagined.”

The family’s day wasn’t only a tribute to Bindi and Chandler’s love, with the Irwins making sure to include the late Steve in their celebration - as well as the family’s furry friend.

“On the day we had a candle-lighting ceremony in honour of Dad,” Bindi said, “alongside my favourite photo of him and our family dog, Sui.”

She noted that it had “meant the world” to be able to pay tribute to her dad on a day that meant so much to her, and for her brother to have accepted the momentous honour of escorting her down the aisle to her future husband.

“I’m forever thankful,” she shared, “for his friendship and support.”

Images: Instagram

Groom accused of ‘copying’ wedding speech from popular Pinterest post

Footage from an influencer couple’s wedding has gone viral for the wrong reasons.

Jadé Tuncdoruk, 27, and Lachie Brycki, 29 tied the knot at Krinklewood Vineyard in the Hunter Valley last October.

Tuncdoruk posted a TikTok of unseen footage from her husband’s wedding speech, which now has over 10 million views and a lot of comments accusing Brycki of ‘copying’ part of his speech.

"Still can't believe I get to call this man my husband," Tuncdoruk captioned the TikTok.

The clip showed Brycki telling his wife: "When I say I love you more, I don't mean I love you more than you love me. I mean I love you more than the bad days ahead of us. I love you more than any fight we will ever have."

“I love you more than the distance between us; I love you more than any obstacle that could try and come between us,” Brycki added through tears.

Some of Tuncdoruk’s followers were quick to point out that Brycki had used parts of a popular poem written by Erin Nicole, which has been posted all over Pinterest.

"Why do I feel like I've heard this before?" commented one user.

“I know people are saying let it go, but as a wedding vow, it needs to be personal. Copying the entire speech from a poem would make me feel loved less,” commented another user.

"Pretty sure I heard that ‘I love you more bit’ on Pinterest. Thought that counts though," wrote a third.

However, many others have shared their support for the couple and defended Brycki’s actions, acknowledging how hard it is to write a wedding speech.

“Maybe writing original words wasn't his forte but he found words that expressed what he felt? And it's clearly genuine, look at him tearing up,” commented one user.

“I think just because they aren't his words doesn't take away from the meaning of what he said. He clearly resonated with the poem and meant every word he said - his words or not,” wrote another.

“He explained his love in words so so well. Just beautiful,” wrote a third.

Images: TikTok

A heartbroken bride has confronted her fiancé at the altar of her wedding ceremony after finding out that he was cheating on her the night before their big day.

Casey* was celebrating her final night of being unmarried with her bridesmaids when she received a text message from an unknown number, reported Whimn.

Casey was expecting a congratulatory message but instead received a series of screenshots from a conversation involving her boyfriend of six years, Alex*, and another woman.

The conversations between Casey’s boyfriend and the ‘other’ woman, who she described as looking the “complete opposite of her”, went back months.

The sender wrote to Casey: “I wouldn’t marry him. Will you?”

The texts also included selfies of the pair and immediately Casey knew “there was no questioning the legitimacy” of the screenshots.

Casey said every message was a “dagger to her heart”, but didn’t know what to do as the wedding would be taking place in a few hours and it was already paid for.

So she hatched a plan for the next day.

“I was going to go ahead with the wedding as expected, and ‘out’ him in front of our friends and family,” she said.

After walking down the wedding aisle the following day, Casey announced there would be “no wedding” instead of reading her vows.

“It seems Alex is not who I thought he was,” she told her guests, before reading out every single message he had sent to the other woman.

"Your body is f***ing incredible. And s** do you know how to use it. I wish my GF (girlfriend) had half the skills you do."

"I miss you so much
I’ve never had this kind of connection before."

All colour left Alex’s face and Casey let her weeping eyes rise and meet his.

The embarrassed groom didn’t have anything to say but walked out of the church in shame with his best man close behind him.

“I love all of you and as horrible as this is, I’m glad you all are here,” Casey bravely told her guests.

“There will not be a wedding reception today, but instead, there will be a celebration of honesty, finding true love and following your heart even when it hurts.”

Although it was not the day Casey has planned, she said despite the heartbreak, the reception was “one hell of a party”.

*Names changed for confidentiality

Why the bride always stands to the left of the groom

Many bridal traditions have fallen by the wayside over the years, but aside from the fashion, music and dĂ©cor, wedding ceremonies remain relatively unchanged. We still have bridesmaids and groomsmen, still enlist the father of the bride to walk his daughter down the aisle, still have a “first dance” and still toss the bouquet.

However, there’s one wedding tradition that we’ve always wondered about – why does the bride always stand on the left side of the groom when exchanging their vows? The answer will surprise you.

The reason dates back hundreds of years ago to when “marriage by capture” was common practice, according to The Knot. In many cultures in the past – and shockingly in some parts of the world today – it was normal for a man to kidnap the woman he fancied and take her to the altar (whether or not against her will). When it finally came time for the “couple” to tie the knot, the groom needed to keep his right hand (that is, his fighting hand) free in case a rival suitor should come along and attempt to steal his bride at the last minute.

In fact, some historians believe honeymoons to be a lasting relic of marriage by capture, in keeping with the practice of the man and his new wife going into hiding to avoid the backlash of relatives and intending for the woman to fall pregnant by the end of their month away.

At Jewish weddings, on the other hand, the bride stands to the right of the groom in keeping with the interpretation of a verse in Psalms (45:10), “The queen stands on your right hand in fine gold of Ophir.”

Therefore, unless any change might go against your religious beliefs, you’re pretty safe to go ahead and stand however you would like.

Man’s beautiful vows to his bride’s little girl

When two people get married they promise each other many things for their future life together. At this man’s wedding, he not only took on the new role as a husband and life partner, but also as a father figure for his bride’s daughter. His vows to take care of the two very special women in his life is not only truly moving but a perfect fairy tale ending for this lucky couple.

The couple’s love story wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. Twenty-seven-year-old Brian Scott met 24-year-old Whitney Kay after being introduced by mutual friends and they hit it off. Whitney had a daughter from a previous marriage and Brian fell in love with her instantly.

At their wedding, set in the picturesque lush mountains of McCall, Idaho, Brian not only promised his everlasting love to his bride with special vows, but he also turned to her daughter to read hers. This is what he had to say:

"Brielle, can I tell you something?"

"I promise to always hold your hand and skip with you down the street and bring comfort to your life," he said, choking back tears.

"I promise to read you stories at night, to always tuck you in real tight."

"I vow to show you how a man should treat a woman in my relationship with your mother."

"And above all else, I vow to protect you, care for you, and love you forever," he finished.

The new bride assured that there wasn’t a dry eye in the room after his special moment with her daughter. We wish the newlyweds and happy little family all the best.

Related links:

Top 10 brain-boosting apps

14 things I learned from working with the dying

Tips to help you stay independent and at home as you age
