M*A*S*H star passes away at age 75
<p>M*A*S*H star David Ogden Stiers has sadly passed away at the age of 75, following a prolonged battle with bladder cancer. The actor, who played Major Charles Winchester in the hit show, died peacefully at his home in Newport, Oregon.</p>
<p>His agent, Mitchell K. Stubbs, confirmed the passing with a statement on Twitter.</p>
<p> “I am very sad to report that David died this morning March 3, 2018 peacefully at his home in Newport, Oregon after a courageous battle with bladder cancer. His talent was only surpassed by his heart,” read the message. </p>
<p>Stiers’ long career included stints on the Mary Tyler Moore Show, North and South, and Murder, She Wrote, but he’ll always be remembered for his role on M*A*S*H from 1977 to 1983, which would earn the actor two Emmy nominations.</p>
<p>Stiers was born in Peoria, Illinois, attending the University of Oregon briefly before relocating to San Francisco where he began improv and performing for the Actors Workshop.</p>
<p>He also studied at the prestigious Julliard School.</p>
