Prince WIlliam has made a candid admission about his life this past year, following the double cancer diagnoses of his father King Charles and wife Kate Middleton.

When asked how this year has been in an interview with UK print media in Cape Town during his trip to South Africa, the royal replied: “Honestly? It’s been dreadful.

“It’s probably been the hardest year in my life.”

The Prince of Wales, who took time off while Princess Kate was being treated added: “So, trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult.

“But I’m so proud of my wife, I’m proud of my father, for handling the things that they have done. But from a personal family point of view, it’s been, yeah, it’s been brutal.”

While the King and Princess Kate have both issued statements about their health struggles, this is the first time William has spoken candidly on the subject.

The Prince of Wales is in South Africa as part of Earthshot Week, and presented the Earthshot Prize Awards on November 6.

When asked if his family had watched the live broadcast of the awards ceremony, he replied: “I don’t know yet. I haven’t clocked in with them yet but I hope they did.

“But it’s interesting you say that, ’cause I couldn’t be less relaxed this year, so it’s very interesting you’re all seeing that. But it’s more a case of just crack on and you’ve got to keep going.

“I enjoy my work and I enjoy pacing myself and keeping sure I have got time for my family too.”

He also shared an update on his wife's condition saying that "she's doing well. Doing well".

Image: Andrew Parsons/Kensington Palace/ Shutterstock Editorial

Billy Connolly shares candid admission about Parkinson's battle

Billy Connolly has shared his candid thoughts around death as he discussed his ongoing battle with Parkinson's.

The comedian and actor, 81, recalled how he was told to "confront his illness" after being diagnosed with Parkinson's and prostate cancer on the same day.

"You just confront it and make decisions based on it," he told The Mirror.

"You just have to think 'Don't think you are being badly treated [in life] or you have the bad pick of the straws. You are one of millions'."

"Then you then realise death is not the big thing everyone has made it out to be. It is nothing. It is just a sudden nothing."

Despite the dual diagnosis, Connolly reflected on the "funny week", as he said, "On the Monday, I had hearing aids. On the Tuesday I got pills for heart burn, which I have to take all the time, and on the Wednesday I got news that I had prostate cancer and Parkinson's."

The star then joked that he probably got the disease following his several appearances on Michael Parkinson's chat show, saying, "I just thought 'I have got Parkinson's. I wish he (Michael) had kept it to himself!' It was easy (making fun of it)."

Earlier this year, Billy issued a health update in which he said being sick feels "strange", telling GB News in February, "Being unwell is strange. Everybody else is OK and you've got this thing that's wrong... you're out of step."

Two years ago, ahead of receiving an award, he told Bafta.org he's determined to not let the condition "dictate" who he is and is determined to not let it get him down.

"It's really important to work, to draw, to write, to walk silly for your grandchildren," he said at the time.

"Doing the same thing you've always done is good for you. I don't let the Parkinson's dictate who I am – I just get on with it. I've had a very successful career and I have no regrets at all."

"My days are numbered": Rod Stewart reveals candid thoughts on death

Sir Rod Stewart is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, and he's well aware he can't live forever.

As he nears 80-years-old, the music legend shared his views on death, and how he knows his "days are numbered", but that won't stop him from toning down his rock 'n' roll lifestyle as he kicks off his last run of Las Vegas shows after 13 years of residency.

"I'm aware my days are numbered but I've got no fear," he told The Sun.

"We have all got to pass on at some point, so we are all in the same basket.

"I am going to be enjoying myself for these last few years as much as I can. I say few — probably another 15. I can do that easy mate, easy," he added.

He then admitted: "I'm not like I was in the '70s and '80s and I can't stay up all night, get drunk and go mad and still have a voice just like that. Nowadays I have to protect my voice before and after every show."

The singer said he counts on staying hydrated to keep up with his performance demands as he got older, but he definitely has not vowed off the booze.

"You're talking to Rod Stewart here, mate. We go mad after every show. There are 13 of us, six women, really great musicians and I make them drink. We absolutely love it," he said.

Despite keeping up his party ways, the rock star is also very conscious of his health, after he revealed that he had experienced a private three-year battle with prostate cancer in 2019.

"I am more aware of my health now than before. You should be when you start getting on a bit. It's very important," he said.

The rock star said he works out three or four times a day with his personal trainer of three years who has been keeping him in check for over three decades.

Images: Kiko Huesca/EPA-EFE/ Shutterstock Editorial

“Grief eats you away”: Prince Harry's candid interview about losing his mother

Prince Harry has spoken candidly about his ongoing struggles with grief following the death of his mother, the late Princess Diana, when he was just 12 years old.

Upon his brief return to the UK, the Duke of Sussex opened up in a new interview as part of his role as global ambassador for Armed Forces charity Scotty’s Little Soldiers, who work to support children who have lost parents in the military, admitting that “grief eats you away”.

Harry detailed how difficult it was losing his mother at such a young age, admitting he spent nearly two decades “not thinking” about her death and was forced to eventually get help after years of “total chaos”.

He added that learning how to celebrate a late loved one is difficult for a child, as it made them “sad”.

“But realising if I do talk about it, and I’m celebrating their life, then things become easier,” he said.

Harry went on, “You convince yourself that the person you’ve lost wants you, or you need to be sad for as long as possible to prove to them that they are missed … Especially when every defence mechanism in your mind, nervous system and everything else is saying ‘do not go there.”

"But then there’s this realisation of, no, they must want me to be happy”.

The 39-year-old royal shared how, after decades of silent mourning, he learned suppressing grief was “in fact not” the best form of coping with loss.

“It can be for a period of time,” he went on to say.

“But…if you suppress this for too long, you can’t suppress it forever it’s not sustainable and it will east away at you inside."

“Once realising that if I do talk about it and I’m celebrating their life then actually things become easier.”

Monty Python star's candid financial admission

Monty Python star Eric Idle has made a candid admission about the state of his finances, revealing why he still has to work at the age of 80.

The comic legend admitted he receives only a fraction of the millions the Python team have made in the past because the finances are a “disaster”.

In messages on X, formerly Twitter, Idle wrote: “I don’t know why people always assume we’re loaded”.

“I have to work for my living. I never dreamed that at this age the income streams would tail off so disastrously."

“I have been working and earning for Pythons since 1995. And now no more.”

Idle also took aim at TV lawyer Holly Gilliam, the daughter of fellow Python member Terry Gilliam, who took over the Python brand in 2013 as part of HDG Projects Ltd.

He said, “I guess if you put a Gilliam child in as your manager you should not be so surprised”.

“One Gilliam is bad enough. Two can take out any company.”

Daughter Lily Idle backed him, writing online, “I’m so proud of my dad for finally finally finally starting to share the truth.”

The Pythons, who also included John Cleese, 84, Michael Palin, 80, and the late Terry Jones — made a fortune thanks to their iconic cult films, including Life of Brian, hit stage show Spamalot, which Idle co-wrote, and the original Flying Circus BBC TV series.

They were back in the limelight in 2014 with Monty Python Live (Mostly) — One Down, Five to Go: a reference to former member Graham Chapman who died in 1989 aged just 48.

It featured interpretations of some of their famous sketches, and reportedly earned the surviving members at least £2 million ($3.87m AUD) each.

Bindi Irwin shares candid health update

Bindi Irwin has shared a candid health update, while sharing details of her gruelling road to receiving a diagnosis for endometriosis.

The wildlife warrior first shared that she was suffering with the condition, which effects one in nine women, in March 2023, as she revealed she was living in constant pain.

Now, the 25-year-old told People magazine that it took 10 years to be diagnosed, after being “tested for everything” after experiencing extreme fatigue, pain and nausea over the span of a decade.

“It’s so hard because you feel like it’s inescapable,” she told the publication.

“You don’t know what’s wrong with you, and then when people tell you ‘It’s all in your head’ or ‘you’re hormonal’ or ‘just have a cup of tea, lay down,’ you end up feeling so desperately alone because there’s no answers.”

In August 2022, Bindi pushed to undergo an explorative laparoscopy to explore her organs in the abdomen and pelvis.

“I was so scared that they wouldn’t find anything because we had run out of everything else to test for,” Irwin said.

The surgery revealed she had 37 lesions and cysts on her ovaries, and was formally diagnosed with endometriosis.

Following specialised treatment and surgery, the conservationist said she feels “like I have a second chance at life ... I feel brand new”.

“It’s not like a light switch, but every week I feel like I’m able to do a little bit more,” she said.

“Now I wake up in the morning, and I don’t have to take anti-nausea medicine or have my heat pack."

“Being able to go for a walk with my daughter and not feeling like I have to throw up in the bushes is just wild to me.”

“I was spiralling”: Naomi Watts’ candid menopause admission

Naomi Watts has spoken candidly about how her life drastically changed when she started going through early menopause at the age of 36.

The Aussie actress, now 54, said going through such a big change at such a young age “wasn’t easy”, and found it difficult to access information about what she was going through, both physically and mentally.

Speaking candidly to Hello magazine, she said, “Going through menopause at such a young age was not easy, especially during a time when there was so little information available about it.”

“Mood swings, night sweats, and migraines … I was feeling like I was spiralling out of control,” she added.

According to the Mayo Clinic, menopause typically occurs at the age of 50, when a woman experiences her last period.

Despite the change coming on much earlier than anticipated, Watts said learning to cope with the hormonal changes helped her feel more liberated.

“Going through this journey led me to a deeper understanding of myself, and I came out on the other side feeling more authentically me,” she told Page Six.

“A lot of freedom came in the self-acknowledgment.”

She continued, “I had those voices in the back of my mind reminding me how old women are let out to pasture, but there was a lure to this desire to be authentic, to crawl from behind the invisible wall and just acknowledge for myself something that everyone could have probably guessed.”

Watts’ personal experience led her to partner with Menopause Mandate, a non-profit organisation that aims to revolutionise midlife support available for American women.

“I truly believe that if menopause hadn’t been such an off-limits topic when I first started experiencing symptoms, I would’ve had an easier transition,” she said.

“I was part of a cycle that desperately needed to be broken.”

Holy moly. Before 29 I hadn’t even heard of a Saturn Return as a concept. Let’s just say that now I am well acquainted,” she wrote on Monday night.

In astrology, the term “Saturn return” refers to when the planet Saturn has moved all the way through the zodiac back to the place where it was at the time of a person’s birth.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Emma Watson (@emmawatson)

Getting candid about the highs and lows of the past couple of years, Watson said she learned to surf “badly,” rode horses, has done “a lot of therapy”, filmed the Harry Potter reunion, and “said goodbye to my Grandma and Grandpa.”

She went on to say she “felt really sad and really p***ed off about a lot of things.”

“I learned more about love and being a woman. It takes a village, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.”

While Watson’s previous Instagram post was in December 2022, she previously kept her personal life away from the platform, only posting as an ambassador for Prada or sharing updates on her short film.

Meghan Markle gets candid in groundbreaking interview

Before marrying Prince Harry, Meghan Markle wasn’t exactly a household name except for the few that knew her from the TV series Suits.

She soon became Duchess of Sussex, announced that she and Prince Harry will be “leaving” the Royal Family for a normal life, and had two children, Archie and Lilibet.

The pair married St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle back on May 19, 2018 and have since then caused what many describe, a headache, for the Royals.

But this was not their intention with the Duchess now coming out in a groundbreaking interview with The Cut, revealing her upcoming projects, how she’s teaching their kids manners, to the troubles she had with the monarchy's restrictions on her life, and of course, her love for Harry.

Back on Instagram

Meghan revealed that when she joined the Royal Family she could not have her own social media.

But now that she’s putting her foot down, almost four years later, she announced excitedly: “I'm getting back … on Instagram”.

“It was a big adjustment—a huge adjustment to go from that kind of autonomy to a different life.”

She said this is an important step to getting her voice back and defending herself from media stories who are attacking her.

The red flags

When Meghan gave birth to her first child, baby Archie, she was not allowed to share photos with her loved ones.

Instead, she had to wait for a rota approved by the monarch for when she was allowed to release photos of him.

"There's literally a structure by which if you want to release photos of your child, as a member of the family, you first have to give them to the Royal Rota," she explained.

“Why would I give the very people that are calling my children the N-word a photo of my child before I can share it with the people that love my child?" she went on.

"You tell me how that makes sense and then I'll play that game."

How she moved to California

Filmmaker Tyler Perry reached out to Meghan and Harry when the drama with the Royal Family got a bit too much.

The trio did not know each other, and the Sussexes were living in Canada at the time with Tyler offering them his home in Beverly Hills as Covid-19 struck.

Tyler’s home came with complete security detail which gave them their privacy before they found their dream home in Montecito, boasting Oprah as a neighbour.

She revealed that without Tyler it would have been harder as they didn’t have enough money because they left the Royal Family, but soon they signed a deal with Netflix and Spotify.

"We did everything we could to get this house," she said. "Because you walk in and go … Joy. And exhale. And calm. It's healing. You feel free."

First time going back to London

It was in June 2022 when both Meghan and Harry appeared in public in London for the first time for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

This was Meghan’s opportunity to also pack the rest of the family’s belongings which were left behind before they left for Canada.

"You go back and you open drawers and you’re like, 'Oh my gosh. This is what I was writing in my journal there? And here’s all my socks from this time?',” she said.

"It was bittersweet, you know? Knowing none of it had to be this way.”

Meghan and Harry tried to stay with the Royal Family

The Duchess was an actress and was always told what to do when it came to working, but soon the UK media was bashing her for her job.

“My entire job was, 'Tell me where to stand. Tell me what to say. Tell me how to say it. Tell me what to wear, and I'll do it.' And I'll show up early, and I'll probably bake something for the crew,” she said.

Soon the pressure from the press was too much, Duchess Kate making her cry, the racist comments over baby Archie’s skin colour.

The pair offered to move to another Commonwealth and make their own money while still working for the Queen but the Monarch was just not having any of it.

“Anything to just … because just by existing, we were upsetting the dynamic of the hierarchy. So we go, 'Okay, fine, let's get out of here. Happy to,' Meghan revealed.

Their upcoming projects

Not wanting to reveal too much, Meghan and Harry enjoy working together explaining that it is fun and exciting.

The pair are currently working on their new podcast Archetypes with the first episode out with her best friend and professional tennis player, Serena Williams.

Meghan said this was an opportunity to share things she never could before and give the public a glimpse into her life.

"The piece of my life I haven't been able to share, that people haven't been able to see, is our love story.”

Losing their fathers

Meghan’s father Thomas Markle bore the brunt of the press when she was dating Prince Harry.

He however could not push them away and instead said hurtful things about his daughter and did not attend their wedding.

Harry also revealed that his father Prince Charles stopped speaking to him when they moved to California.

"Harry said to me, 'I lost my dad in this process.' It doesn't have to be the same for them as it was for me, but that's his decision," Meghan said.

Making peace with the Royals

Meghan admits and hopes that one day the family could put their differences aside and come together as one

"I think forgiveness is really important. It takes a lot more energy to not forgive," she said.

"But it takes a lot of effort to forgive. I've really made an active effort, especially knowing that I can say anything.

"I can talk about my whole experience and make a choice not to," she said.

When asked why, she simply said, “Still healing”.

Image: Getty

Prince Harry discusses his mental health journey in candid interview

Prince Harry has shared a rare insight into his mental health journey in a candid interview.

The interview, which has been published on YouTube for Silicon Valley tech start-up BetterUp, shows the Duke of Sussex taking on the role of interviewer as he declared "we all have greatness within us".

"Mental fitness helps us unlock it. It's an ongoing practice, one where you approach your mind as something to flex, not fix," Prince Harry said.

Harry joined BetterUp in March last year as its chief impact officer, in what is believed to be one of the duke's first paying roles in his new life of "financial freedom" away from the royal family.

"Throughout the years of travelling around the world, what I saw was the similarities of experiences of trauma, of loss, of grief, of being human," Prince Harry said in the clip.

"That building up of resilience is absolutely critical."

Prince Harry spoke with Olympic gold medallist snowboarder Chloe Kim, BetterUp member Blu Mendoza and psychologist Adam Grant in the video, as he quizzed them about building their own “mental fitness”.

"What does the term mental fitness mean to you?" Harry asked.

Grant said, "Everyone is aware that if they don't take care of their bodies, that their functioning is going to suffer. I don't think we have the same awareness around mental fitness."

Speaking to Grant, Harry asked: "How can we create more resilience for people, not just a better version of themselves at work but a better version for their partners, their families and their whole community?"

"We all want to grow, but it's hard to do that on our own," Grant said.

The interview was given as part of his work for BetterUp, with Harry saying the world was on the cusp of a "mental health awakening" and people are realising they should resign if their work "didn't bring them joy".

You can check out the entire interview below.

Paul McCartney takes a dig at the Rolling Stones in candid new interview

Legendary musician Sir Paul McCartney has reignited the rivalry between The Beatles and The Rolling Stones with a brutal burn in a recent interview.

In an interview with The New Yorker this week, Sir McCartney said of the Stones, “I’m not sure I should say it, but they’re a blues cover band, that’s sort of what the Stones are.”

Of his own band, he said, ”I think our net was cast a bit wider than theirs.”

This isn’t the first time McCartney, 79, has described the Stones this way; in an interview with Howard Stern last year, he said that he thought the Beatles were the better band, adding that the Stones, “are rooted in the blues. When they are writing stuff, it has to do with the blues.

”We had a little more influences... There’s a lot of differences and I love the Stones, but I’m with you. The Beatles were better.”

Responding to his comments, Stones frontman Mick Jagger, 78, said in an interview with Zane Lowe, that there was “obviously no competition” between the two groups, and called McCartney a “sweetheart”.

Jagger went on to describe what he saw as the fundamental difference between the two bands, saying, “The big difference, though, is, and sort of slightly seriously, is that the Rolling Stones is a big concert band in other decades and other areas when the Beatles never even did an arena tour, or Madison Square Garden with a decent sound system.

“They broke up before that business started, the touring business for real.”

The Beatles performed together from 1960 to 1970, while The Rolling Stones have been together for almost six decades since forming in 1962.

Both being iconic 1960s rock bands, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones have always been compared, despite having vastly different sounds and career trajectories. Writing for Rolling Stone, musician, Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band guitarist and Sopranos actor Steve Van Zandt said of the two bands, “In '64, the Beatles were perfect: the hair, the harmonies, the suits. They bowed together. Their music was extraordinarily sophisticated. The whole thing was exciting and alien but very distant in its perfection.

“The Stones were alien and exciting, too. But with the Stones, the message was, "Maybe you can do this." The hair was sloppier. The harmonies were a bit off. And I don't remember them smiling at all. They had the R&B traditionalist's attitude: "We are not in show business. We are not pop music."

Fellow musician Elvis Costello described The Stones as “R&B evangelists”, and said that compared to them, The Beatles sounded like “nothing else”, and made writing your own material “expected, rather than exceptional”.

Image: Mike Marsland/WireImage/Getty Images, Jeff Curry/Getty Images

Nicole Kidman’s candid admission about sex scenes in movies

Nicole Kidman has become a Hollywood giant after years of blockbuster hits.

However, the 53-year-old has gotten real about the moment she realised she’d need clauses in her contract when it came to sex and nudity in films.

While the Hollywood heavyweight has never shied away from roles with sex and/or nudity, she admits she was not always comfortable with baring it all for the screen.

In reference to the 1999 film Eyes Wide Shut, that she starred with her then husband Tom Cruise, Kidman said: “I’ve had situations as an actress where, oh my gosh, it was not what I thought it would be. I was probably at the forefront of this, when I went to work with (director) Stanley Kubrick.

“He (Kubrick) was like, ‘I’m going to want full frontal nudity,’ and I was like, ‘Ahh, I don’t know,’” Kidman said.

“So we came up with a great agreement, which was contractual. He would show me the scenes with the nudity before they made it into the film. Then I could feel completely safe.

“I didn’t say no to any of it. I’d wanted to make sure that it wasn’t going to be me standing there nude and everyone laughing at me.

“I was protected, so I got to explore a complicated marriage and the way in which Tom’s character is having those jealous images.

“I would never think of not wanting the storytelling to be told properly. Having them say, ‘Once you’re OK with it, great, that’s it’ – what a fantastic place to be in as a woman.”

Kidman is set to appear in the HBO series The Undoing, where she will star as character Grace Fraser - a woman who is comfortable with her sexuality.

The star argues that sex is still taboo.

“Sexuality is over here in a box, and we don’t deal with it. I’m happy to deal with it, but there needs to be a place where you can go. I’m not going to be exploited,” she said.

“Then I’ll go down the road with you. I love the relationship between a director and an actor.

“When it’s pure, it’s exquisite. And the other actors, when you’re all there doing the work, it’s exquisite.”

The Undoing is based on the 2014 book You Should Have Known, written by Jean Hanff Korelitz.

The story follows successful therapist Grace whose life is thrown into chaos when her husband Mike Fraser (Grant) disappears after a woman is violently murdered.

Keith Urban gets candid about his bond with Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban usually keep a tight lid on their personal lives, but the country singer couldn't help himself in an interview with Zane Low on Apple Music.

He gushed about Kidman and revealed how much of an influence she's had on his music over the years.

"She's got great taste in music – it's always visceral. It's just like, I don't know who the artist is, I don't know what genre it is, I just love this song. It's all that matters to her.

"You know what I've learned from her is to be more fearless in artistry and go for the curious place you want to go as an artist, don't question it," he explained.

"Her whole thing is 'oh I'm interested in that, I'm going to go over there,' it's not like can I do it? That's definitely had a big impact on my music in the last five to six years particularly."

The pair initially met at the 2005 G'Day USA gala and were married in 2006.

View this post on Instagram

Happy Anniversary Baby!!!!! 14 years.... and i feel like your boyfriend in ALL the right ways!!!!

A post shared by Keith Urban (@keithurban) on Jun 25, 2020 at 3:19pm PDT

Kidman also opened up about how the coronavirus pandemic has impacted their family, as they have two daughters, Sunday, 12 and Faith, nine.

"We travel together, so we are always together, but never where you are in a house and you can't go to the store, to a restaurant of the movies," she said.

"Staying home, doing school from home and all of those things that everyone has been doing is a completely different life for us."

The Kidman-Urban family have never been happier despite the changes.
