Leave aside in a warm place for about 10 minutes, until frothy.

Into a large bowl, sift the flour then stir in the salt and remaining caster sugar.

Use your fingertips to rub the chopped butter into the flour mixture until it resembles fine breadcrumbs.

Add the milk mixture and eggs and stir until combined. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth (around 10 minutes).

Place the dough into a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and set aside in a warm place for at least 40 minutes, or until doubled in size.

Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and roll it out into a rectangle of about 30cm by 35cm. Set aside two teaspoons of the softened butter and spread the rest over the dough.

In a bowl, combine the cranberries brown sugar, cinnamon, and orange rind. Spread this mixture evenly over the buttered dough.

Roll the dough from the longer side. Cut into three-cm-thick slices and place into a greased a 20 to 25cm cake tin or baking dish. Be sure to leave a little room between each bun. Set the buns aside for about 20 minutes to rise.

Preheat your oven to 200°C and spread the remaining softened butter over the buns.

Bake buns for two to 25 minutes, or until they’re golden brown and cooked through. Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before moving to a wire rack to cool completely.

Images: Shutterstock

Duchess Kate just broke a BIG rule with the Queen

There are certain royal traditions royal family members must abide by when it comes to interacting with the Queen, and the Duchess of Cambridge has broken a big one.

On Monday, Duchess Kate was joined by the Queen and other royal family members, including her husband in support for a project she had been working on for a number of months, her Back to Nature garden.

While the royal gave a grand tour of the incredible displays and pointed out key features of each garden, the grandmother-in-law smiled and nodded in approval.

But before the quick journey around the Chelsea Flower Show began, Duchess Kate made a grand gesture of kissing her grandmother-in-law on both cheeks, followed by a quick curtsy.

The moment, albeit a sweet one, is a big no in the world of the British royals.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Catherine Duchess Of Cambridge (@katemiddleton_kurdistan) on May 20, 2019 at 10:17am PDT

The tradition goes, all women in the royal family are required to curtsy before the Queen – and although it may seem minor, Duchess Kate’s quick decision to greet her esteemed family member with a royal kiss instead tells a bigger story about the dynamics of their relationship.

For the mother-of-three to be able to address Her Majesty with such an informal greeting spells a massive tick of approval.

Although it is a minuscule moment, one the Duchess may have gotten mixed up whilst in a public setting, it is more likely she is comfortable enough with the Queen to know her place – after all, image matters deeply to the royal family.

This is not the first time Queen Elizabeth has showed her delight and approval towards the 37-year-old Duchess.

In March, Her Majesty and Kate spent a few hours together for a solo public engagement – one that was not overlooked by royal fans.

Further, on April 29, the royal was bestowed with the highest honour a royal can receive from the Queen – the special title as the Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order.

The role is so big, it is the equivalent of being a knight, according to The Sun.

Awards of this level are given personally by the Queen as recognition for their services to the Sovereign.

Top 5 gardens from Chelsea Flower Show

The Chelsea Flower Show is held for five days during May by the Royal Horticultural Society in the grounds of the Royal Hospital in Chelsea. Here are five spectacular gardens from this year’s show.

5. Greening Grey Britain Garden

Designed by: Professor Nigel Dunnett

This garden was designed by Professor Nigel Dunnett whose work includes the Olympic Park meadows and the Barbican roof garden. This garden expresses the challenges of climate change and rapid urban development.

4. Morgan Stanley Garden

Designed by: Chris Beardshaw

“I have often thought that the orchestration of a garden must share similarities with the orchestration of music,” said Chris Beardshaw. His garden is inspired by music legends as the coloured perennials remind him of Mozart and the lush green woodland reminds him of Bach. Chris grew many of the 3000 herbaceous plants in the show garden himself.

3. Silk Road Garden

Designed by: Laurie Chetwood and Patrick Collins

This garden features many flower favourites that come from Chine including the peony, laburnum, primula and buddleia. The duo only received funding for their Chinese garden in February but pulled off a spectacular show which depicted the Silk Road trade route and red mountain range.

2. 500 years of Covent Garden

Designed by: Lee Bestall

The theme of this garden is Covent Garden’s floral heritage. The patio area in the garden is symbolic of Covent Garden Piazza and the metal arches are similar to those in the original market garden.

1. The M&G Garden

Designed by: James Basson

This garden which included slabs of limestone and evergreens, perennials and ground cover, won best in show this year. Garden designer James Basson designed the garden to reveal the interaction between humans and nature and the balance that needs to be maintained. The garden also received the best construction award.

What is your favourite garden from the 2017 Chelsea Flower Show? Let us know in the comments below.

10 best photos of the Royal Family at the 2016 Chelsea Flower Show

It’s the world’s greatest flower show, and for the first time ever the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have had time in their busy schedule to visit it!

For five days in May every year since 1912 (apart from gaps for the two world wars) the grounds of Royal Hospital Chelsea have been transformed by the Royal Horticultural Society for the Chelsea Flower Show, a highlight of the royal summer calendar.

Visitors from around the world descend upon the show to walk the grounds, observing the incredible floral displays and amazing horticultural feats.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have never found time as a couple to attend the event before, but had the added incentive this year of viewing a pink and green chrysanthemum which had been named in honour of their daughter, Princess Charlotte.

The couple were accompanied by Prince Harry.

Queen Elizabeth II was also in attendance, as was her famously dry humour. Her Majesty remarked on the poisonous qualities of two bunches of lily of the valley that she'd been given this week by people - she joked - who perhaps "wanted her dead".

To see all the photos, scroll through the gallery above.
