Prince George's bold warning to classmates

A new book has claimed that Prince George delivered a sassy comeback to a fellow classmate during a tussle on the playground, flouting his royal status.

According to journalist and author Katie Nicholl, who wrote The New Royals – Queen Elizabeth’s Legacy and the Future of the Crown biography, the second in line for the throne called out a student during a scuffle at the young royal’s former school Thomas’ Battersea in south London.

Katie wrote that the Prince replied to his peers with the line, “My dad will be king so you better watch out,” when they were messing about on the playground one day.

In her book, she wrote, "They [Prince William and Princess Kate] are raising their children, particularly Prince George, with an awareness of who he is and the role he will inherit, but they are keen not to weigh them down with a sense of duty."

“George understands he will one day be king and as a little boy sparred with friends at school, outdoing his peers with the killer line, ‘My dad will be king so you better watch out.’”

The royal children now attend the elite Lambrook School in Berkshire, west London, as Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis were pictured with their parents for orientation day earlier this year.

The young royals were welcomed by headmaster Jonathan Perry at the front gate, as they all said they were excited for their first day.

Unlikely classmates: Olivia spotted in same row as another Aussie icon

An Australian icon has shared their primary school class photo, which features a young Olivia Newton-John before she shot to stardom.

The photo also unearthed the little known fact that Olivia went to school with another giant of the Australian entertainment industry: Daryl Braithwaite.

Just days after Olivia died from breast cancer, Braithwaite, 73, shared the black-and-white class photo taken at Christ Church Grammar School in Melbourne in 1961.

“This is a lovely shot to look back at when Olivia was at (school) with all her friends back in 1961. Olivia is 2nd from the right and 3rd row from the bottom,” wrote Braithwaite, who is in the same row on the very far left.

He added, “She also loved all animals and was a beautiful soul who left a legacy that will endure forever.”

His post was flooded with comments, as people couldn't believe Daryl and Olivia's friendship went all the way back to primary school.

One person said, "Who would of thought that two of Australia's greatest ever singers would come out of that class photo."

Braithwaite has previously opened up about how the duo were briefly “boyfriend and girlfriend” while at the same school, before Newton-John moved to London in her teenage years.

“She was one of the prettiest girls in the class, (we were) 11 or 12 I think,” he told The Morning Show in 2017.

“I don’t know how, we must have sat next to each other and thought, ‘Oh yeah that’s good’ and we were talking and then we held hands and then it was over.”

After their fleeting romance, Braithwaite said that the pair always stayed friends.

He told Now to Love in 2020, “It is one of those friendships where there was a decade, or maybe more, where we didn’t speak to each other, mainly because we were too busy or whatever, but over the last year or so I have made more contact with her than ever before, and she is lovely, she really is.”

Boys let classmate with Down syndrome win race at last sports day together

A group of 11-year-old British boys have banded together to help their classmate, who has Down syndrome, to win a race on their final school sports day.

The boys linked their arms to run across the finish line as joint-second, while they let classmate, 11-year-old Rory Kettles, run ahead to win gold. The boys quickly join him for a big group hug.

The boys attend Wrawby St Mary’s C of E Primary School in Lincolnshire, UK, and will attend different secondary schools in September.

One of the boys' parents, Michelle Drury, said the schoolboys came up with the idea themselves.

"I'm unbelievably proud of what Rio and the boys did," she said.

"Being their last sports day they decided they wanted their friend Rory to remember his last running race by coming first.

"They all slowed down, put their arms round each other and ran together to make sure they came joint second."

Mrs Drury said all the parents were moved by the gesture.

"Everyone at the sports day were crying their eyes out – these kids don’t know how amazing they are," she said.

"Rory's mum couldn’t believe it, but the boys acted like it wasn't a big deal."

Rory's mother Ros Kettles, said Rory’s classmate’s gesture had made his day.

"After he crossed the finish line he was really excited and just kept saying 'I won! I won!' and at home that night he said 'I feel so happy that I won!'" she said.

"He’s been involved in sports day before but usually stops and looks round to see where everyone is.

"This year I said 'It's your last year, make sure you don't stop'. Luckily he didn't see them all coming up behind him as he would have stopped.

"I was really emotional when I saw the video and lots of the parents there were emotional too."

"He’s in such a lovely class – all the children have always included Rory but they’re an especially lovely bunch of lads," she said.

Related links:

Photos show the pure joy of adoption after foster care

Having a sibling makes boys selfless

Babies know whether you are naughty or nice
