"SHEER INSANITY": Dog owner slammed over bizarre request

A cat owner was left purr-plexed after receiving a bizarre note from her neighbour about her cats.

She took to Facebook to share the "unhinged" letter, racking up over 15,000 comments from other people who were furious on her behalf.

"Hey neighbour! Can you please keep your cats out of the window?" the letter read.

"They are causing my dog to sit in the window and bark all day long."

The anonymous letter ended abruptly with: "I work from home so this is very difficult, thanks, K."

The cat owner said that she has three cats and two new kittens in her house, and although they occasionally sit on the window when it's a nice outside, they "do nothing but sleep."

"We keep the windows open because we don’t have aircon yet," she added.

The dog owner had barked up the wrong tree, as many commenters slammed them for their "entitled" behaviour.

"Tell them to train the dog," one said, echoing the thoughts of many.

"LMAO, you cannot stop a cat from sitting in a window. Cats will find a way, but you can absolutely do a number of things to stop a dog from barking at a window," another added.

"This can’t be real. What a crazy neighbour," a third wrote.

"I’m totally a dog person, but trying to make your neighbour discipline their cat for sitting in a window because you won’t discipline your dog for nuisance barking is SHEER INSANITY. I mean, what the hell?" a fellow dog owner added.

"Train your cat not to chill in a window because training a dog not to disturb the s*** out of everyone is too hard? I can’t believe this neighbour had the nerve."

"Imagine being so entitled that you think it’s someone else’s responsibility to control your pet’s behaviour," another wrote.

Another person pointed out: "If ‘your dog’ is barking when they look out the window, then cover 'your window'."

Image: Facebook

Woman baffled by mother-in-law’s insane ask over baby name

A woman has gone head-to-head with her mother-in-law over the name she has chosen for her unborn child.

The pregnant woman took to Reddit to share her unusual predicament, explaining how her mother-in-law has demanded she change the name of her baby.

The soon-to-be mum shared how she recently had dinner with her husband’s family, where she decided to reveal the baby’s gender and name.

She had been keeping the information secret, but with only a few weeks of her pregnancy left, she decided to share the happy news that she was having a baby boy and had chosen the name Shawn for her son.

But not everyone shared her happiness over the moniker, as her mother-in-law went pale with shock and demanded she choose a new name.

“My in-laws got quiet for a moment before asking if there were other options we'd considered. Apparently, Shawn is the name of my 17-year-old sister-in-law Ashley's former bully who tormented her [for years],” the pregnant woman explained on Reddit.

While she empathised with her in-laws, she didn’t want to change the name as it was the only one her and her husband agreed on for their son.

She also explained that she hadn’t known about the family connection when they picked the name, and hadn’t picked it out of any malicious intent.

“We took forever to pick a name,” she said. “Shawn is the only one we could agree on.”

The dinner party soon ended after the argument began, but the mother-in-law didn’t back down, sending the expecting mum demanding messages.

“She texted me and my husband again to ask us to find a new name for Ashley's sake.”

“Would I be the a**hole for not wanting to change it? We were only able to agree on it a few weeks ago.”

Commenters were torn over the subject, with many rushing to the pregnant woman’s defence, saying she can pick whatever name she wants for her son.

“My spouse and sibling have the same name. Somehow, you just compartmentalise it,” one shared.

“I feel like if a new baby in my family shared a name with my bully I'd just adapt,” another wrote. “After all, Shawn is a VERY common name, so I can't freak out every time I hear it and survive in this world.”

However, a select few sided with the mother-in-law, sharing how stunned they were that the couple couldn't find enough compassion to pick another name.

One person said, “I understand the difficulty of finding a name that feels right, but for me, after learning this, Shawn would quickly become another name that didn't work. It's only been decided on it for a few weeks so I'd just go back to the drawing board.”

"Worth it": Insane amount woman spends to clone dead cat

Kelly Anderson from Texas, US was devastated when she lost her "soulmate" cat Chai more than four years ago.

Not long after, in what she calls "fate", Anderson decided to clone her beloved pet, a process which cost her a whopping $USD25,000 ($AUD38,000).

"It was just one of those moments where I had been talking about cloning a few weeks before and fate kicked in," she told Weekend Today.

"I remembered the conversation and decided to clone."

The process took about four years, which is roughly twice the average time it takes to clone a pet.

"It was not money that I had come easily to me but it was a very important process for me to do," she said.

"It was 100 per cent worth it. The process saved my life."

Anderson added that Belle, the successfully cloned cat, has grown to be as "bold, bossy, sassy" as Chai, and their personalities have become more alike.

Despite the similarities, Anderson said that she doesn't set any expectations on Belle to be Chai's replacement.

"I would still say she's very much her own cat and I treat her that way. I always try to treat them as individuals.

"I never wanted to put expectations on Belle to be Chai. But I would say that they're very similar in a lot of ways."

According to BBC, the process itself involves extracting DNA from the pet to be cloned, then injecting that into a donor egg that has had its genetic material removed. The egg then grows into an embryo before being implanted into a surrogate mother, who then gives birth to the kitten.

Pet cloning has become an increasingly popular practice, , despite how controversial and expensive it is, with celebrities like Barbra Streisand and Simon Cowell using the process to clone their own beloved pets.

Anderson, who decided to document her story on social media added that people have mixed reactions to the process.

"I think there's people who are fascinated and don't even realise that we're cloning animals ... so a lot of people are learning about cloning," she said.

"But a lot of people also have opinions. So it's a mixed bag."

Images: Weekend Today

Boss slammed for demanding "insane" farewell gift contribution

A boss in London has been slammed after asking his employees to chip in almost $100 each for an expensive farewell gift for a co-worker.

In a TikTok, London-resident Ben Askins read out the anonymous submission from one of the employees who was fed up after his manager “forced” everyone in the team to contribute because it was "compulsory".

“Hey, noticed you hadn’t paid into the leaving present for Josh yet. Can you send me the £50 (AU$95) today? I want to put the purchase in by the end of the day,” the boss said in the text.

Shocked by the "insane" amount of money, the employee replied: “Can I ask why it is so expensive?

“Money is a little tight right now and to be asked to put in so much feels like a lot.”

However, the manager didn't take his employee's financial situation into consideration, and said: “Josh has led the company for three years now and I think it’s nice gesture to show our appreciation.”

The employee hit back: “I appreciate that but he makes so much more money than me and for me to be asked to put in so much feels weird especially as I never really worked with him”.

But, the manager insisted that the employee needed to make a contribution.

“This is compulsory I am afraid, it is not fair for me to ask some people and not others. Besides it isn’t that much all things considered," he said, and the employee conceded.

It is unclear what happened after, but the texts have gone viral with over 2.2 million views thanks to Askins' video.

Askins, who’s a managing director and co-founder of a digital agency, weighed in on the ordeal.

“I don’t like this at all. I don’t mind leaving presents as a concept, right? But companies should pay it,” he said.

“Companies should take responsibility, set a budget and they should pay for themselves. If you want to get something small for your best mate at work, that’s totally different, that’s well within your right.

“But this sort of compulsory, ‘everyone’s got to chip in’, I absolutely hate," he added.

He also said that the manager's actions are "really poor" and asking for that amount "is just ridiculous, it’s an insane amount".

“It might not be much money for him but it is clearly a lot for this person so it’s just not fair what he’s doing,” he concluded.

Images: TikTok

"This is insane": Woman's intense hotel safety routine divides audiences

A woman has gone viral for the elaborate routine she undergoes every time she checks into a new hotel room.

Victoria posted a TikTok of her intense seven-step routine that she undertakes when staying in a hotel, with the video quickly racking up over 14 million views.

In the now-viral clip, Victoria starts off by putting the “Do Not Disturb” sign on the doorknob and locking it from the inside.

Then, she blocks the peephole with a tissue, jams a washcloth into the deadbolt to "close the gap" and rolls up a bath towel behind the handle to stop anyone opening the door.

She also positioned an ironing board against the door to stop it from being able to open, and then used a clothes hanger to clip everything together.

After going through the seven step routine, Victoria's comment section was flooded with messages as the video prompted a mixed response.

"By the time I do all that, it's morning again," one user wrote, while another simply said, "This is insane."

While many of the comments were quick to judge how extensive the safety routine is, others shared their own different security preferences.

"I take two portable locks, and a mini camera that links to my phone for when I'm out," one said.

However, one person pointed out that Victoria's set-up was a bit of a hazard, saying, "And now imagine trying to get out of that in the dark in a fire in the middle of the night."

Another said they had "never stayed in hotels where I felt so unsafe," adding, "Is it an American thing? I am genuinely curious."

Mum's list of insane babysitter requirements sparks debate

A man on TikTok has clapped back at a very strange babysitter's list of requirements, posted by a mother in a local bulletin.

In a video shared to social media, Collins O aka @thatboycollins revealed the list and pointed out how extreme and unrealistic the requirements really are. *

"Babysitter needed ASAP," the ad read. "I need someone to look after my four kids (aged two, three, five and seven) from noon to 6 pm Monday to Friday.”

The prerequisites laid out by the mother require applicants to "be a great cook and avid cleaner", "be over 25-years-old" and have a minimum education of a "master's degree”.

@thatboycollins

Why did Tiktok take this down..😂

♬ original sound - Collins O

The requirements became more restrictive as the list went on, saying that applicants couldn't have "social media accounts", adding "I don't need my kids seeing that". It also stated "no drinking, no smoking, not even vaping!" and "no tattoos or piercings.”

In order to get the job, applicants needed to have "five professional references" and stated that a "background check and drug test [would] be carried out."

Collins was blown away by the audacity of the mum, and so were viewers. It was then revealed that the job only pays a shocking $200 per WEEK.

At the bottom of the page, a sentence prompted applicants to contact 'Tammy' to apply for the job.

"Tammy, with all due disrespect, go to hell," Collins joked. Amassing a huge 300,000 views, it seems the audience agreed with him too.

Images: TikTok

ALDI releases insanely affordable family dinner option

If you’ve ever been drawn to the convenience of a meal kit - where everything is included and you just have to cook it - this is the news for you.

ALDI, known for their exclusive and own-brand food products that have attracted so many loyal fans, has launched its first series of DIY cooking kits.

So what sets these apart from the dozens of other meal kits? For one thing, you can pick them up during your weekly shop and avoid the online ordering and commitment that comes with subscription-based kits. The second, and most important thing, is the low price, at just $3.99 a kit.

Though they aren’t as comprehensive as kits such as Hello Fresh, they are still worth it. Unlike the standard sauce with noodles or rice kits already available in supermarkets, these ones include all the veggies you’ll need, already prepped. The one thing you’ll need to pick up yourself are the necessary proteins and carbohydrates.

Though the kits require you to purchase your noodles and chicken as well, they still feed a family of four for about $14, or $3.50 per person. Plus, you can easily substitute items for ones you prefer.

Each kit comes with a QR code that takes you to demonstrations that will walk you through each recipe, saving you from having to worry or plan dinner when you’re out of energy or time.
