Olivia Newton-John's iconic leather jacket sells for astonishing price
<p>Olivia Newton-John's iconic leather jacket that she wore in the classic 1978 musical <em>Grease </em>has sold at auction for almost a million dollars. </p>
<p>The biker jacket was sold to a private buyer in Los Angeles for an astonishing USD $476,250 (AU $749,645.84).</p>
<p>It had been expected to sell for around $US80,000 — $100,000 ($125,924 —$157,405).</p>
<p>It was just one of the many collectors items once owned by the late actress that was sold in the auction Property From the Estate of Olivia Newton-John. </p>
<p>Other items up for grabs included her 2002 ARIA Hall of Fame Award, which sold for AU $20,000, her 2014 passport, her turquoise baby grand piano, and a copy of a handwritten speech she once gave. </p>
<p>A portion of the proceeds will go to The Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund — a fund dedicated to researching plant medicine and cancer.</p>
<p>The actress originally sold the jacket for a whopping AU $587,000 in 2019 through an auction house, and the buyer shocked her by returning it. </p>
<p>The leather jacket remained in her possession until her death in August 2022, after a brave decades-long battle with breast cancer. </p>
