Original Luke Skywalker lightsaber sells at auction for whopping amount
<p>An original lightsaber used by Mark Hamill has sold at auction for US$450,000 (AU$590,000) reports <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong><a href="http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/luke-skywalkers-lightsaber-sold-450000-ripley-1018402" target="_blank">The Hollywood Reporter</a></strong></span>.</p>
<p>The Luke Skywalker prop used in <em>Star Wars</em> and <em>The Empire Strikes Back</em> was sold to the Ripley company.</p>
<p>Known for Ripley's Believe It or Not!, the lightsaber was likely to feature at one of the 32 'Odditoriums' around the world.</p>
<p>The prop originally belonged to Gary Kurtz who worked as a producer on the first two Star Wars films.</p>
<p>The auction house, <span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong><a href="http://www.profilesinhistory.com/flipbooks/Hollywood89/index.html#p=444" target="_blank">Profiles in History</a></strong></span>, had also sold an original R2-D2 droid last week for US$2.76m (AU$3.6m)</p>
