Let it sit one minute and just wiped it off."

The cleaning guru used a mop to wipe off the product after applying it to the floor. This cleaning tip has been liked 156,000 times and sparked plenty of discussion.

Some viewers revealed using degreaser as a grout cleaner is a well-known cleaning secret in the fast-food industry.

"Fast food places add degreaser to their mops all the time. It works," one TikToker said.

If you can't get your hands on the degreaser from Healthier Home, which doesn't appear to ship to Australia, other followers insist other degreasers will work just as well.

Like with any cleaning advice you see on TikTok you might want to test your degreaser on a small spot first, in case it's not suitable for your floors. It’s also best practice to read the information on the bottle, in case its not safe for use on particular materials.

Image: TikTok

Greenpeace want to ban microbeads in beauty products

If you washed your face this morning with an exfoliating scrub, you might have been doing more than just removing the dead skin cells from your nose.

Campaigners say the tiny plastic beads contained in many facial scrubs, shower gels and toothpastes are causing chaos when they are flushed through the sewerage system and out to sea, where they are eaten by marine animals.

Greenpeace wants the government to introduce a blanket ban on the beads.

"They end up in the stomachs of aquatic life at all stages of the food chain, from plankton through to fish, dolphins and whales. Microbeads cause serious and painful health problems for these animals," Greenpeace campaigner Sarah Yates said.

"The latest studies are showing that some juvenile fish actually prefer to eat microbeads over their natural food source, which is leading to severe behavioural changes that threaten their survival."

Most wastewater treatment technology was not capable of filtering out all micro plastics, including microbeads, because they were too small, said.

Some retailers and manufacturers are already taking action.

Countdown has removed all microbeads from its home brand products.

Brands such as The Body Shop, Unilever, L'Oreal, Clarins, and Clearasil have pledged their support to an Australian campaign to stop using the beads.

Johnson & Johnson said it had met its goal of having alternatives available by the end of 2015 and was planning to remove all microbeads from products by the end of next year.

A spokesman for New Zealand supermarket, Foodstuffs, said its home brand products did not contain any microbeads. "We are currently surveying all of our external suppliers of personal care products about whether they use microbeads at all. Early indications are that the number of their products still using them is very small. We are confident any suppliers still using microbeads are committed to ending this practice."

Does this information deter you from using beauty products with microbeads in them? Why we all need to use a lip scrub (and 3 DIY recipes)

We’re still in the midst of winter and unfortunately for many of us that means dry, chapped lips. We already know that moisturising lip balms and chap sticks can help, but sometimes that just isn’t enough. If your lips seem to be peeling or dry no matter what you do, you might need to invest in a lip scrub.

Lip scrubs exfoliate the lips, removing dead skin cells. This is imperative both aesthetically and practically: sloughing off layers of dead skin not only leaves the lips smooth to the eye, but also allows moisturisers found in your chap sticks to more readily penetrate the lips, leaving them soft and hydrated.

While many lip scrubs are available on shelves, it couldn’t be easier to make yourself. Try one of these super simple DIY options. Most of these ingredients can be found in your kitchen, which means they all taste amazing!

NOTES: Feel free to mix and match ingredients and ratios from these recipes to create a taste and texture that suits you. You might consider adding Vaseline, vitamin E oil, vanilla, or other essential oils to your own creation. Happy scrubbing!

1. Raspberry lip scrub

You will need:

1 tablespoon of white sugar

1 tablespoon of raw coconut oil

1 to 2 raspberries

Method:

Coconut oil is extremely moisturising. Heat yours in the microwave for 10-15 seconds or until malleable. Combine all ingredients in bowl and mash. Mix thoroughly. Store in a cool, dry place. Refrigerate for longer keeping time.

2. Cinnamon honey lip scrub:

You will need:

1 tablespoon of brown or white sugar

1 tablespoon of honey

1 tablespoon of olive oil

1 pinch of powdered cinnamon

Method:

The olive oil and honey in this recipe have moisturising properties while the sugar acts as an exfoliator. Combine all ingredients and mix together.

3. Coconut peppermint lip scrub:

You will need:

1 tablespoon of raw coconut oil

1 tablespoon of coarse sugar

1 teaspoon of honey

A few drops of peppermint oil

Method:

As in the first recipe, heat your coconut oil until at a mixing consistency. Combine all ingredients and mix until smooth. After using your lip scrub use Vaseline or Chap Stick for added moisture to help prolong the effects.
