Tourist's disrespectful Machu Picchu act slammed

A tourist has been slammed online after she was filmed sprinkling her loved one's ashes at Peru’s Machu Picchu.

The clip posted to TikTok by Peruvian tour operator IncaGo Expeditions has been taken down amid fierce backlash, but not before it was reshared on other platforms online.

In the video, the woman stood atop one of the 15th-century Inca citadel’s terraces as she scattered the ashes. The footage ended with her taking a bow and embracing another person.

Her actions have been slammed online, with one person saying: “may the full weight of the law fall on the person who did this act, there was no respect for Machu Picchu."

“What is the need to do it in a universal jewel, such as Machu Picchu?” another commented.

The sacred landmark, has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage landmark in Peru, and is one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

Peruvian cultural officials have also criticised the behaviour and called for greater action in preserving the history of the landmark.

T’ika Oregón, a lawyer with the Cusco Commission of Jurists, told local media that “archaeological areas are not repositories of any type of ashes, much less of a deceased person,” reported the Daily Mail.

She also claimed that the ceremony could've been a promotional stunt orchestrated by the tour operator.

“It must be determined if it is an agency that is dedicating itself to this objective or if it is a person, and according to the level of participation, of seriousness, the maximum penalty will have to be given,” she said.

The Ministry of Culture is currently trying to identify the woman and tour agency responsible for the desecration.

“Machu Picchu deserves respect and protection from visitors and tourism operators, who are obliged to comply with the provisions contained in the regulations for visiting the Inca city of Machu Picchu,” they said in a statement.

Image: TikTok

“Is it really that bad?”: New mum slammed for baby name choice

One woman has taken to social media to explain her dilemma after people around her made her second-guess the name she and her husband chose for their unborn son.

The woman shared her situation on Reddit, and explained that the name has a special family significance to her, but so far people around her have absolutely hated it.

"My grandpa was my favourite person in the whole world. Growing up, I always loved his name because I thought it was unique and I loved him. I always said if I had a son I would name him after my grandpa," she explained in the post.

"Now I'm pregnant, and the very few people I've told the name to HATE IT. The name is Earl. Is it really that bad?"

She added that she doesn't want her son to grow up hating his name, but she still wants to use it as it is so special to her.

"Few other things: husband is on board and loves it, and it does sound really nice with our last name," she added.

Many of the commenters urged her to go with the name if she loves it and to disregard what anyone else says.

"This. Is. Your. Baby You don't need to poll the audience or tell anyone the baby's name before he is born. Protect your peace, and Earl's," replied one person.

"I love Earl! Easy to say and spell. Uncommon but not made up. The emotional connection is wonderful too!" commented another.

"It's a lovely name!!! Don't let other people shame you out of using it because you'll regret listening to them later," a third person assured her.

"Earl is dated and country but it's cute and it means something to you and you both love it. It will be fine," another woman said.

Some suggested that if she was really struggling with the name after the hate she received, there are other ways to incorporate it.

"It's extremely dated but not bad. I personally think it's better as a middle name," replied one person.

Image: Shutterstock

TikTok couple slammed for leaving toddlers unattended in cruise cabin

TikTok Influencers Matt and Abby Howard have been slammed online for their controversial parenting choice while on a family vacation.

In a now deleted video, the couple explained that they had brought their sons Griffin, 2, and August, 1 on a family cruise, and they went to dinner without the boys, but monitored the room through FaceTime.

"So we ended up taking them for 5 nights and it became apparent that they weren't enjoying it and therefore we weren't either," they said in the caption.

"So THEN we switched our dinner time to AFTER their bedtime and FaceTimed the monitors while we ate."

Abby noted that baby monitors "don't work on board unless you're only like 10 feet away", adding that their dinnertime solution worked out "much better for everyone"

Social media users were quick to respond to their decision, with many highlighting the safety concerns.

"They literally could not have gotten to them fast enough if anything had happened and I cannot stop thinking about that. It’s sickening," one wrote on Reddit.

"It's literally common sense that you do not leave a baby alone unsupervised," another added.

"The fact that they would so willingly leave their children in an unfamiliar environment completely alone is shocking," another added.

"Are they seriously that f****** dumb? Do they not watch the news, have they not seen what happened to Madeline McCann?" a fourth wrote.

Following the controversy, the couple released a video claiming that a family member was always with the children while they were at dinner, although they didn't clarify who.

"We take our roles as parents extremely seriously and we love our children more than anything in the entire world, and we're very protective of our kids," Matt said in the video.

"We had someone with our children at all times on this boat," he continued adding that the speculation surrounding them is "completely untrue".

"I do want to clarify that we have not, would not, will not ever leave our children unattended. We would would never, ever want to put them in harms way in anyway," Abby added.

She explained that her family would "tag team" to help the couple out with watching their children.

Viewers were quick to speculate whether they were telling the truth, while others were glad they clarified.

"Thanks for the clarification because it did come off like the boys were alone- context is everything," one wrote.

"I hope this is the truth," another added.

"For them to post about it like it's some genius parenting hack is just wild," a third wrote.

Image: Instagram

Bride slammed for asking wedding photographer to commit fraud

A bride-to-be has been slammed online over a “dodgy” email she sent to her wedding photographer, in which she asked him to commit a crime to lower the wedding cost.

The young woman, who works in event planning, was shocked when she realised the cost of her wedding photographer, and was worried the cost didn’t fit in her budget.

She came up with a plan to lower the cost, not knowing that she was asking her photographer to commit fraud.

In an email to the photographer, the woman pitched an idea to charge her business some of the wedding costs to lower the overall price of her big day.

“We are so excited to have you as a wedding photographer. Hard to believe it's only a few months away,” the email began.

“I wasn't sure how to approach this with you, but the budget has been rapidly expanding as we go through this process. I'm sure that happens with a lot of weddings and you've dealt with it many times.”

“I was wondering if we could work something out. I work in the events department at [a company], and I'm wondering if I could hire you to photograph some events there, and you could overcharge them, and whatever you overcharge you could take off our remaining balance.”

“What do you think? Do you have any other ideas?”

The shocking email saw the “unhinged” bride labelled as “tacky” and “criminal”, with many people urging the photographer to report the bride-to-be to her place of work.

“Is this person also telling the florist, the caterer, or any other vendor this?” one asked.

“Stop expecting to bargain with creatives like photographers. If you can't pay for a professional photographer, ask a relative or friend to get a few shots. This is so tacky.”

Many couldn't believe the bride would stoop so low, as one woman suggested, “Just write back, 'I respectfully decline because I don't want to go to jail'.”

Another person added, “I beg your finest pardon? I thought she was going to ask for an extension or a payment plan - not fraud!”

Bride and groom slammed over their “draconian wedding rules”

A wedding planner has exposed a bride and groom she worked for who had an exhaustive list of rules for their big day.

Ivy Miller shared a now viral TikTok about the couple’s “draconian” demands for their wedding day, that left many people saying they would “rather stay home” than attend the restricted day.

Miller shared that the couple didn’t want any wedding guests making song requests to their DJ, with the bride and groom allegedly suggesting, “Just go to the club if you want your songs played.”

The wedding planner also claimed that the couple asked guests not to ask their professional photographer to take photos of them, with the post reading, “I did not pay 10,000s of dollars for random portraits.”

Instead, guests were told to join a shared photo album on a group app where they could crowd source photos from the day.

Additionally, Miller said the couple did not permit any guests to bring a plus one, saying, “I’m not stressing and paying for strangers I’ve never met.”

Finally, Miller’s post revealed that the couple had banned alcohol from their wedding because they wanted their guests to “actually remember” their celebrations.

“No plus one? No alcohol? Is this a wedding?” questioned one TikTok user in response to the list of rules.

“Sounds like a business convention rather than a wedding,” another person said of the unusual demands.

“I went to an alcohol free wedding,” another commenter added. “[It was] the most boring wedding I’ve ever been to. Pretty much everyone went at eight and most of the evening guests didn’t turn up.”

“Those are all the reasons people attend the wedding for,” a fourth person claimed. “I would recommend a really small wedding because that way your guests don’t end up secretly hating you.”

However, other users defended the bride and groom’s requests, with one person saying, “It’s their wedding, their rules.”

Incredible moment huge whale body slams boat

The incredible moment a humpback whale launched out of the water and slammed itself onto an unsuspecting boat has been caught on camera.

The incident, which was filmed off the coast of New Hampshire in the US, showed the whale leap from the water and onto the back of a small boat.

Two fishermen were seen scrambling off the boat before it flipped onto its side and capsizes.

There were reportedly no injuries, but the US Coast sent out an alert to nearby mariners to assist the two men if possible, according to TMZ.

A nearby boat helped the two men and brought the capsized boat back to safety.

The video has gone viral, with former NHL player Ryan Whitney reacting to the video on X: “There is a pissed off whale patrolling the waters of Portsmouth NH today. Head on swivel if you’re out there.”

Experts have also spoken out on the incident, saying that it was just a coincidence, that had nothing to do with the humpback's temperament.

“It was an accident,” Blue Ocean Society for Marine Conservation co-founder and director of research Dianna Schulte told The New York Post.

There is a pissed off whale patrolling the waters of Portsmouth NH today. Head on swivel if you’re out there pic.twitter.com/xQPIHs8ZjN

— Ryan Whitney (@ryanwhitney6) July 23, 2024

According to the researcher, the humpback whale was feeding when it came up and hit the boat.

“The whales will come up through schools of fish with their mouth wide open and close their mouth, either right before they break the surface or even after they break the surface,” she said.

“The boat was in the wrong place.”

A population boom in Atlantic menhaden, where whales, dolphins and sharks can usually be found, could be the reason why the mammal is coming closer to the coast, according to Schulte.

She said that it could be using the shallow waters to its advantage as it builds its hunting skills.

“The boaters that are in the video, they should have known better to not be fishing with a large whale in the area, because (an accident) can happen,” she said.

“The whales, when they’re feeding on the fish schools, when they’re that dense, they just can’t see through the fish school, so they don’t know what’s above them, especially on a cloudy day like today. So the whale had no idea that the boat was even there,” she added.

“I’ve been watching whales and researching whales for 30 years, and I’ve never seen a humpback whale purposely hit a boat.”

She warned that boaters and fishermen should give the mammal as much as 100 yards of space, especially during mealtime.

Images: Instagram

"You guys can't touch me": Djokovic slams Wimbledon crowd

Novak Djokovic has launched into a staggering tirade after emerging from the Wimbledon courts victorious, after claiming the crowd was being "disrespectful" by booing him.

The Serbian tennis champ accused the audience after his 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 victory over Danish player Holger Rune, calling out the behaviour during his winning speech.

“To all the fans that have had respect and stayed here tonight, I thank you from the bottom of my heart and I appreciate it,” he said.

“And to all those people that have chosen to disrespect the player, in this case me, have a goooood night."

“Goooood night, goooood night, have a good night,” he continued.

The on-court interviewer suggested that the crowd was chanting “Rooooon” and was not in fact booing, but Djokovic was determined.

“I’m hoping they were just commenting on Rune and they weren’t disrespecting you,” the courtside interviewer said, as Djokovic responded, “They were, they were, they were, they were.”

“I am not accepting it. No, no, no. I know they were cheering for Rune but that’s an excuse to also boo."

“Listen, I have been on the tour for more than 20 years."

“I know all the tricks. I focus on the respectful people that pay for the ticket, and love tennis and appreciate the players."

“I have played in much more hostile environments, trust me ... you guys can’t touch me.”

He then headed for the Centre Court exit to initial applause before further chants of "Ruuuuuuune" followed.

“Greedy” woman slammed after being “disappointed” with engagement ring

A woman has been dubbed “ungrateful” and “greedy” online after sharing a lengthy post about how she was “pretty disappointed” with the ring her boyfriend proposed with.

The bride-to-be took to Facebook to say that while she still loves her fiancé, she was upset at being given a lab-made diamond as opposed to a natural one.

“I'm not going to lie, I was pretty disappointed, especially since my future husband has enough income to afford a real diamond,” she said in the lengthy post.

She also confessed to feeling like “a spoiled brat for complaining”, but went on to compare how her fiancé was previously engaged to another woman and proposed with a ring costing more than $75,000, so the cheaper diamond left her feeling “second best”.

The woman’s post was met with ridicule online, as thousands of people commented on her post to express their disbelief.

One person quipped, “I require my diamonds to be exploitative.”

“People sure do get upset when their diamonds aren't the result of human rights abuses and environmental destruction, huh,” another said, slamming the woman's “entitled attitude”.

Another woman was quick to agree that the bride-to-be's “greedy” disappointment was in bad taste.

“Carbon is carbon,” another person said, referring to the material that diamonds are made of, whether from the ground or in a lab.

“Such a weird hill to die on! I told my husband I wanted a lab created diamond for this exact reason: because diamond mining claims lives! Having a chemically perfect diamond is a bonus,” another woman said.

Beloved author slams Carrie Bickmore for “schoolyard bullying”

New Zealand author and poet Jessica Urlichs has voiced her extreme displeasure with Carrie Bickmore and Tommy Little for her radio program "Carrie & Tommy", claiming that she experienced what amounted to "schoolyard bullying" during a recent segment.

Bickmore read one of Urlichs’ poems on air recently while speaking to her co-host, Tommy Little. Urlichs, who has nearly half-a-million followers on Instagram, felt that her work was shamefully mocked during the broadcast.

"I don’t have any words left to truly articulate the schoolyard bullying you displayed in your recent segment across multiple radio stations," Urlichs wrote in an Instagram post on Sunday.

She continued, "You used my heartfelt poem (without permission) as your very weak punchline. Your co-host wasn’t allowing a voice for post-partum women, nor you for that matter, and as a woman who was once post-partum it was very disappointing to see you reduce yourself to his childlike behaviour on such an important topic."

In her caption, Urlichs explained she wrote the poem for herself and for mothers who might be offended by the radio segment. She also mentioned that her requests to have the content removed had been ignored.

During the radio segment, Bickmore explained to Little that the poems, written from the perspective of a baby to its mother, frequently appeared in her social media feed. Little responded with skepticism and humour, questioning the premise that a baby could write such a poem.

Bickmore defended the work, identifying Urlichs as the author and stressing the poem's emotional significance for mothers dealing with sleepless nights. Despite this, Little continued to mock the poem, suggesting it was written by a middle-aged man pretending to be a baby.

The segment continued with Bickmore reading the poem aloud, accompanied by background music, while Little laughed and interjected. This tone persisted throughout the reading, leading to further comments from Little that questioned the poem's authenticity and meaning.

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by J E S S I C A U R L I C H S (@jessurlichs)

Following the broadcast, a video clip of the segment was posted on Instagram, where Urlichs expressed her disappointment in the comments. Bride slammed for “absolutely ridiculous” dress code rules

A bride-to-be has gone viral for all the wrong reasons after her exhaustive list of wedding day dress code rules has divided the internet.

A wedding guest took to a wedding shaming facebook group to share the list of attire rules she received alongside her invitation to the nuptials, sparking a heated debate over the “absolutely ridiculous” dress code.

The specific dress code nitpicks at colour, fabric, length, print, and even the “vibe” clothes give off.

The invite read: “Dress code: Formal (non-black tie) wear. Suits (preferably dark blue or dark grey, no tuxedos), ties, and dress shoes for men. No need to get creative!”

“Linen is better suited for our welcome party; please wear a traditional fabric for the wedding.”

“For women, tea-length dresses are great. Knee-length also works, but make sure it is not too casual (no summer floral dresses, for example) and floor-length is fine but make sure it is not an evening gala gown.”

“Avoid any outrageous necklines, cut-outs, or sparkles. The idea is to be formal and glam, but not like you are on the way to a black-tie gala. Solid jewel tones generally work better than florals. No black please!”

“Most importantly, please make sure to cover your shoulders and back with a cardigan or light scarf!”

The huge list sparked a debate online, with some people claiming the bride is “controlling” and “entitled”, while others defended the bride and groom.

“When in the hell did we start telling guests what to wear?” one person commented, “This is utterly ridiculous and if I received this invitation, it would go directly into the bin.”

Another person wrote, “What is 'traditional fabric'? Am I supposed to show up in undyed wool? If we're being pedantic here, linen is pretty much the most traditional fabric in terms of historic use.”

“They should just pick a uniform for the guests,” another said, while one wrote, “I honestly don't know if this type of dress or outfit exists?”

Some claimed they would go against the dress code on purpose, as one person wrote, “I'd show up in an above-the-knee black floral number with cold shoulder cut outs and a sparkling neckline. For fun, it would be made out of linen.”

However, a few people were quick to defend the bride and groom.

“They could be getting married in a church, mosque, or synagogue - where this is a requirement. I would rather an invite tell me this than show up and not have known. Telling people gives people the opportunity to RSVP no if it's an issue,” one wrote.

“To me this isn't exactly unreasonable,” another said. “It's not some huge list of dos and don'ts or very specific colours that must be adhered to or avoided. It helps guests who have no idea what to wear.”

"SHEER INSANITY": Dog owner slammed over bizarre request

A cat owner was left purr-plexed after receiving a bizarre note from her neighbour about her cats.

She took to Facebook to share the "unhinged" letter, racking up over 15,000 comments from other people who were furious on her behalf.

"Hey neighbour! Can you please keep your cats out of the window?" the letter read.

"They are causing my dog to sit in the window and bark all day long."

The anonymous letter ended abruptly with: "I work from home so this is very difficult, thanks, K."

The cat owner said that she has three cats and two new kittens in her house, and although they occasionally sit on the window when it's a nice outside, they "do nothing but sleep."

"We keep the windows open because we don’t have aircon yet," she added.

The dog owner had barked up the wrong tree, as many commenters slammed them for their "entitled" behaviour.

"Tell them to train the dog," one said, echoing the thoughts of many.

"LMAO, you cannot stop a cat from sitting in a window. Cats will find a way, but you can absolutely do a number of things to stop a dog from barking at a window," another added.

"This can’t be real. What a crazy neighbour," a third wrote.

"I’m totally a dog person, but trying to make your neighbour discipline their cat for sitting in a window because you won’t discipline your dog for nuisance barking is SHEER INSANITY. I mean, what the hell?" a fellow dog owner added.

"Train your cat not to chill in a window because training a dog not to disturb the s*** out of everyone is too hard? I can’t believe this neighbour had the nerve."

"Imagine being so entitled that you think it’s someone else’s responsibility to control your pet’s behaviour," another wrote.

Another person pointed out: "If ‘your dog’ is barking when they look out the window, then cover 'your window'."

Image: Facebook

Scarlett Johansson slams tech giant's AI update

Scarlett Johansson has issued a furious public statement, claiming that tech giant OpenAI used a voice that is “eerily similar” to hers in the latest version of ChatGPT.

In the statement published by NPR, the actress claimed that OpenAI CEO Sam Altman had approached her last year asking if she would be interested in voicing their new AI voice assistant.

After further consideration and "for personal reasons" she rejected the offer.

She claimed that Altman then reached out to her agent again just days before the AI voice assistant was released, but before she had a chance to respond, the voice "Sky" was released.

“When I heard the released demo, I was shocked, angered and in disbelief that Mr Altman would pursue a voice that sounded so eerily similar to mine that my closest friends and news outlets could not tell the difference,” she said in the statement.

She also said that the similarity seemed intentional, as Altman tweeted the word "her" upon Sky's release, which is the same name as a 2013 movie she was in where she voiced a chat system.

“In a time when we are all grappling with deepfakes and the protection of our own likeness, our own work, our own identities, I believe these are questions that deserve absolute clarity,” the actress said in her statement.

“I look forward to resolution in the form of transparency and the passage of appropriate legislation to help ensure that individual rights are protected.”

OpenAI announced that it had paused the use of the “Sky” voice on Sunday, and insisted that it wasn't Johansson's voice, but another actress.

“We believe that AI voices should not deliberately mimic a celebrity’s distinctive voice — Sky’s voice is not an imitation of Scarlett Johansson but belongs to a different professional actress using her own natural speaking voice,” the company wrote.

Image: Alessandro Bremec/NurPhoto/ Shutterstock Editorial

“Too chaotic for me”: Bride and groom slammed for “unreasonable” wedding rules

A bride and groom has been slammed online for giving their wedding guests an extensive list of rules they must abide by on their big day.

The list of 15 demands was shared on Reddit, where social media users tore the newlyweds to shreds with their “unreasonable” rules.

The post racked up thousands of comments on the Wedding Shamers subreddit, with one person writing, 'If someone sent this to me, I would simply just not go.'

The rules included that guests needed to remember their opinions on the wedding are “irrelevant” while also banning attendees from “sitting down all night” or making their own big announcements.

The first rule urged guests to remember that this was the bride and groom's big day, “not yours”, while also telling guests, “Do not get in the photographer's way.”

They also made a strict dress code, writing, “the attire is BLACK and/or GOLD not red, blue, green and definitely NO WHITE!”

“Do not rearrange the seats, we have a seating chart for a reason.”

The rules continued, “If you didn't put out any money for the wedding, keep your "should've, could've, would've" to yourself. Your opinion is irrelevant.”

But the couple did not stop there as they also urged guests to pace themselves when drinking and banned “big announcements or proposals.”

Next up, it read, “If you can't handle or dislike the music being played, simply go home. This is a celebration, not a funeral.”

The lovebirds then instructed their friends and family to use their own personalised hashtag when posting photos on social media.

Rounding out the demands, the final five read, “Do not sit down all night. No outside liquor. If caught, you will be escorted out.”

“Refer back to rule number one. The bride and groom said what they said! Turn ALL the way up!”

The post was soon flooded with comments with many insisting that the couple had taken it too far.

One person wrote, “What kind of list is this? Too chaotic for me.”

Another person added, “Yeah, I would not be going to that wedding. Sounds like too much drama.”

On the other hand, there were a few commenters who understood the need for issuing such strict guidelines and defended the couple.

One person wrote, “They're not asking for anything out of order. They're just stating what should be obvious, but they probably have seen from their family and friends past behaviour, that it NEEDS to be addressed.”

“Is it a little tacky? Yes, but the only people that will be bothered by any of it are the ones that would have been an issue.”

Mother of the groom slammed for unacceptable wedding outfit

A mother of the groom has been slammed online for wearing a white dress to her son’s wedding: committing a major wedding faux pas.

The family photo, which has gone viral, shows the mother wearing “a dress even whiter than the bride’s”, complete with a sheet cape train, a cream hat and corsage.

The mum's behaviour was criticised by thousands in a wedding-shaming Facebook group, while others defended the woman, saying she may have had permission for the look beforehand.

“Really makes you wonder what in god's name happened with all these mothers-in-law to make them act like their son's wedding is her own wedding,” one person commented.

Many claimed the older woman's dress was a clear attempt to upstage the bride, with many saying her outfit was simply unacceptable.

“Makes me vomit when I see mothers like this,” a woman said.

A second person added, “The cape, the gown, the fascinator... oh, my god. It would have been over the top, but fine if in any other colour. I hope to be as patient as this bride one day.”

“I cannot imagine doing this to any woman who decides to marry my son. Like, hon, I of all people know how difficult he can be to live with, may the old gods and the new bless you for your sacrifice,” another joked.

“I'm 99 percent sure this wasn't bride-approved as it's white and the bride's dress is ever so slightly off-white. And the bride looks perfect!” a fourth added.

A few even claimed someone should have “accidentally” spilled a glass of red wine on the mother's dress.

“No way she should have made it to the pictures without someone spilling [wine]. That poor girl,” a woman said.

“Absolute monster”: Bridezilla slammed for unreasonable bridesmaid rules

A woman has shared the reason she quit her best friend’s bridal party, after she was presented with a 14-page contract to be a bridesmaid.

The woman was excited to celebrate her friend Laura’s wedding to the love of her life James, and shared how Laura was a very regimented bride.

“We began planning everything, having multiple meetings to make sure we all are up to date on all plans,” the bridesmaid said in a Reddit thread.

“She is a bit of a neat person and very organised. She made all five bridesmaids and her maid of honour a binder of our duties... We keep track of appointments, vendors — pretty standard stuff.”

“But that’s not all that’s in there.”

The bridesmaid then shared an extensive list of rules the bridal party had to follow for the big day in relation to their physical appearance.

The list included 12 bizarre rules about how they were to look on the big day, saying everyone must wear size-eight dresses, tattoos must be covered or removed and brown eyes are banned.

“No visible tattoos. Must be removed or covered with makeup. No jackets or long sleeves to cover them,” the bride began in the extensive list.

“Full head of hair. No shaved sides or back. Must have a professional wig on if a haircut is not acceptable.”

“Hair can not be too short. It must be able to be braided. Also if your hair is too long like to your waist, it will need to be cut. Hair must be blonde or black. I will tell you what colour is best for you.

“You must fit into a size eight dress. I don’t want to see tents (too big) or rolls (too tight). Dresses have been ordered at size eight only.”

“No brown eyes. That’s James’ and my eye colour so you will need to get contacts. Blue is required.”

Other things banned in the bridal party are “harsh tans”, visible scars and eyeglasses.

“Get contacts or go without for the day,” the bride added.

The bridesmaid felt the rules were directed at her, as she was furious with her friend and decided to leave the bridal party.

“Here is where I started to backpedal and want to walk away,” she said.

“I have very thick but fine hair. I keep the sides shaved down and the top and back long like halfway down my back which helps my migraines.”

“I also have an Eeyore tattoo and a bear paw print tattoo that shows. I also just had bariatric (gastric sleeve) surgery so I’m working on losing weight. I also have glasses.”

Upon looking through the contract, she was mortified to see what the bride expected of her bridesmaids.

“The final kick in the pants was the contract — 14 pages front and back of everything we are required to do. Like not getting pregnant, attend meetings and events, as well as constantly communicate,” the bridesmaid said.

Along with the demands, the bridesmaids were each required to gift the bride and groom a minimum of $150 and “some type of expensive alcohol”, along with a $400 fee to be a bridesmaid.

“I tried to explain I can’t afford this and she told me I had to figure it out. I figured she lost a bridesmaid, me.”

In a follow-up post, the bridesmaid confirmed she was no longer in the bridal party after she quit.

“I am not doing the wedding. The bride is mad but I don’t care,” she said.

Her post has been met with more than 640 comments, with many describing the bride as an “absolute monster”, “cruel” and a “bully” over her outrageous demands.

Image credits: Getty Images / Reddit

“Completely tacky”: Bride slammed for asking for dinner payment

A bride has caused a stir online after asking if it is appropriate to ask her wedding guests to pay for their meal when they RSVP to the big day.

The woman took to a popular wedding Facebook page to ask the opinions of other brides, sharing an example of her invitation created by her wedding planner.

The invitation asks guests to confirm whether or not they will be attending the nuptials, before asking if the guest intends to eat at the wedding ceremony, and which meal they would prefer.

The price of each meal was also included: $20 for grilled chicken with rice, mashed potatoes and green beans and $25 for a salmon alternative.

“We invite you to eat with us but ask for you to provide your own payment. Please select which meal you'd prefer,” the invite stated.

“My wedding venue requires me to purchase food through them for the reception, but has said people sometimes choose this option,” the woman wrote on Facebook.

“Nothing about my reception is very typical anyway, SO I'm wondering how insane or rude or cost-effective/smart this is.”

“The planner set me this as an example of how to present it to guests.”

But when the post was quickly criticised by others, the bride clarified the event was more of a “fun dinner party” rather than a “wedding” as she and her partner had already legally married five months prior.

“Ultimately I'll do what I want BUT I did not choose this option. It was only a suggestion from the venue that I was curious about others' opinions on,” she added.

“This is for the reception. I'm most definitely not asking for money or gifts and by the time they come to the reception, we will have already been married for five months.”

The post was shared in another wedding shaming Facebook group and critiqued by dozens of wedding experts.

“Oh hell no! This is completely tacky!” one wrote, another said, “So she asks if it is rude then gets offended when people say it's rude?”

“I am a veteran pro planner and would NEVER suggest this!” another said.

Someone else wrote, “I'm especially shaming the venue for suggesting that people often pawn off the cost of dinner to their guests. Encouraging rude behaviour.”

Image credits: Getty Images / Facebook

Boss slammed for demanding an employee complete work during annual leave

A boss has been dubbed an “abysmal manager” for demanding his employee join a video call for work, despite being on annual leave.

Businessman Ben Askins, who has dedicated his TikTok account to calling out unacceptable workplace behaviour, read out the text exchange between the man and his boss, who quickly became unreasonable in his demands.

The first message came from the man’s boss, who asked “Where are you? Haven’t seen you at your desk today? I need to run something by you.”

The employee responded, reminding his boss that he was off on pre-approved annual leave, and was enjoying a holiday abroad in Spain.

Despite his holiday, the employee still offered to help, saying he could “probably jump on a quick call when I am on the bus from the airport if it is really urgent.”

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Ben Askins (@benaskins.official)

Unhappy with the compromise, the demanding boss then asked if the employee would “jump on a Zoom call when you get to the hotel” as he would “prefer to do this in person”.

“Sorry, not really possible, we have a really packed schedule,” the worker replied to his boss, to which the manager hit back with, “Damn, wish you had told me that you were on annual leave.”

The man reminded his boss he had signed off his leave two months prior and it was “in the system” but he came back saying, “Lol as if I would remember that. It is poor form for you to not remind me.”

As Ben continued to read the text exchange, he added his own commentary on the situation, saying, “It's your job to remember that, it's not his fault you're just being unbelievably shocking at yours.”

“This is so bad, this poor employee has done everything right; he's got it signed off two months in advance, he's done all the handover, he's done everything he could have done,' Ben ranted.

“Because the manager is shocking, it's now impacting the employee's holiday. I just hate it when that happens.”

Ben, a self-described “champion of younger gens in the workplace” said the heated chat showed the boss's “really poor” form and “abysmal management”.

“What are you doing being so unorganised? Because the problem when an unorganised manager happens it hits down to the team below him - what the hell he's playing at? I have no idea,” he said.

Ben's clip was viewed more than 2.3million and had users fired up, with thousands of comments flooding in in support of the burnt out employee trying to enjoy his holiday.
