"Miraculous rescue": Renter saves stray dog trapped underground

<p>An American renter was minding his own business at his rental home in Longview, Texas when he heard faint barking. </p> <p>The man, who chose to remain anonymous, initially thought the barking was coming from outside, but soon realised that it was coming from below his floorboards. </p> <p>Animal control officer Bobby Jumper was called to the scene and "was very shocked" to find a dog trapped at the bottom of an almost four-metre-deep well underneath the house.</p> <p>The renter did not know there was a well under the house. </p> <p>"I've been doing this for over seven years and that's the first time I've ran into something like this," the animal control officer told the <em>Washington Post.</em></p> <p>Jumper immediately called in back up from the local fire brigade, who built a makeshift sling to pull the stray dog out from safety. </p> <p>"It took multiple people and a lot of different tools and equipment,"  he said. </p> <p>The rescue took three hours and the team did consider ripping up the floorboards, but managed to find a way into the house without damaging it. </p> <p>Rescuers said the stray pup, a Basset hound mix, had been trapped for days without food or water, but luckily came out unscathed. </p> <p>The pup was taken to the Longview Animal Care and Adoption Centre and given the name Timmy, after the character known to fall down the well on the TV show Lassie. </p> <p>Timmy has since been adopted by a loving family, with the adoption centre sharing the "rescue story of a lifetime" on Facebook. </p> <p>"We witnessed a heartwarming tale of bravery and kindness that we just had to share," they wrote.</p> <p>"Thanks to the quick thinking and heroic efforts of our local firefighters and animal control team, the dog was safely brought to the surface, shaken but unharmed!"</p> <p>"Thank you to everyone who played a part in this miraculous rescue," the post continued.</p> <p>"It's a true reminder of the incredible bond between humans and animals and how a community comes together in times of need!"</p> <p><em>Images: Facebook</em></p> <p> </p>

Rod Stewart celebrates birth of fourth grandchild

<p>Rod Stewart has started the new year with some heartwarming news, as he welcomes his fourth grandchild. </p> <p>The rock star's son, Liam Stewart and his wife Nicole, who already share 21-month-old son Louie together, took to Instagram on Monday to introduce the latest addition to their family - an adorable baby girl.  </p> <p>“Elsie Skylar Stewart. Faithful dog's heartbreaking act after owner's death

<p>Heartbreaking images have captured the moment a faithful dog refusing to leave its owner's side after he drowned on a beach in Brazil. </p> <p>The unidentified 40-year-old victim's body was found by residents around 8am on Saturday in Balneário Camboriú. He was very well received by the other two dogs I have, who are also from shelters that we adopted," Tatsch said. </p> <p>"And he didn't want to leave my wife and I at any time," he added.</p> <p>"He stayed inside the house, snuggled on the couch and spent the night."</p> <p>The couple even set up an <a href="https://www.instagram.com/skoobofiel/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Instagram</a> account for Scooby, sharing updates including Scooby learning new tricks, getting pets and exploring his new neighbourhood. </p> <p>"They are the ones who teach us so much about humanity… more than humans themselves," Garghetti captioned one of the videos. </p> <p><em>Image: Instagram</em></p> <p> </p>

Princess Diana's former lover opens up in rare interview

<p>Army Major James Hewitt, who had a five-year affair with the late Princess Diana from 1986, has spoken about the royal in a rare television interview with <em>Good Morning Britain </em>on Tuesday. </p> <p>When asked about whether he thinks Diana may have been able to reunite her sons, who have barely spoken in five years, he replied: "I think any mother would be worried and concerned about such a rift, as you put it." </p> <p>"And she'd do her best to try and get them together."</p> <p>Major Hewitt, who now spends his time doing aid work in Ukraine, revealed that the last time he had spoken to the late Princess was  "just after" her <em>BBC Panorama interview </em>with Martin Bashir in November 1995, during which she admitted to their affair.</p> <p>He described the conversation as  "distant" and admitted that the interview did "create problems" for him from which he was "trying to move on".</p> <p>After the affair was revealed, Major Hewitt was labelled as a "love rat" by the tabloid media and found his reputation in ruins. </p> <p>He also said that the interview was "very distressing" for the late Princess, as someone she had trusted had used their connection to make money.</p> <p>"It was a stitch-up job," he said of the <em>Panorama</em> interview. </p> <p> "It was appalling of Bashir to [have] inveigled, lied to her, criminal activity, absolutely appalling."</p> <p>"As I've said, I hate bullies and bullying and arrogant people and I think it's appalling."</p> <p>Major Hewitt, who was Diana's riding instructor at the time, has previously denied claiming to have been a "father figure" to the princes but has said that he "played with them, swam with them, taught them to ride".</p> <p>The Duke of Sussex had also addressed the rumours that Major Hewitt was his biological father in his memoir <em>Spare</em>, saying that he felt the rumours were designed to turn him into a "laughing stock".</p> <p>"One cause of the rumour was Major Hewitt's red hair, but another was sadism," he wrote in his memoir. </p> <p><em>Image: Ken McKay/ITV/ Shutterstock Editorial</em></p> <p> </p>

Jamie Oliver opens up on former feud with Gordon Ramsay

<p>Jamie Oliver has opened up about his former feud with Gordon Ramsay on <em>The Louis Theroux Podcast</em>. </p> <p>The 49-year-old told Theroux that after years of exchanges with the <em>Hell's Kitchen</em> star, their wives Jools Oliver and Tana Ramsay were the ones who stepped in an encouraged them to patch things up. </p> <p>"I was a target [for] probably 10 years, I think, it was regular," Oliver said of Ramsay.</p> <p>"I generally used to bite [back] once a year, and then that used to set him off for another year ... I think it kind of generated the noise, it was serving its purpose for him - I mean, I'd have to ask Gordon what it was all about.</p> <p>"Cause we never fell out, we got on for the first couple of years, and then - as he did more TV - it just went on and on and on, and it was quite, it was painful but in the end it was Jools and his wife Tana that sorted it out."</p> <p>Oliver revealed that despite their former feud, his kids are friends with Ramsay's children. </p> <p>"It was like, 'come on dads, grow up' so I think that both of us got a telling off, and then we went to have a drink and put it all to rest and let bygones be bygones," he said.</p> <p>When Oliver's Italian chain went under, Ramsay was "very supportive" and "very kind", even sending him messages of encouragement. </p> <p>Oliver also opened up on his feud with Marco Pierre White, and said he was "destroyed" to hear his "hero" slam him in the press and didn't know what sparked it as they never worked together. </p> <p>"He doesn't like me at all, still doesn't," he said, but added "that's fine, I don't need anything from him".</p> <p>"I still think he was like a game changer, he was still my hero for that period of my life but that's life, and it's not just Marco, it's lots of people," Oliver said.</p> <p><em>Image: Alan Davidson/ Shutterstock Editorial</em></p> <p> </p>

Guy Pearce's secret split with Game of Thrones star

<p>Aussie actor Guy Pearce and Carice van Houten, the mother of his son, have split.</p> <p>The <em>Game of Thrones </em>actress took to Instagram to confirm their split, and that the pair have remained close as they co-parent. </p> <p>“I don’t usually engage in discussions about my personal life, but because of a number of conclusions in the media last week regarding my relationship with Guy, I wanted to make something clear,” she shared on her Instagram story alongside a photo of the pair. </p> <p>“He and I are great friends and love each other very much, but we haven’t been a ‘couple’ for years.</p> <p>“I am, however, very proud to say we are in a wonderful partnership raising the true love of our lives - our beautiful son. And his hamster. The end.”</p> <p>Rumours of their split first began last month, when Pearce revealed during an interview that his first wife Kate Mestitz was the "greatest love of my life" but now that love is for his son.</p> <p>"My ex-wife, Kate, was the greatest love of my life, but I’ve moved on from her now and the greatest love of my life is my child, Monte," he told <em>The Guardian</em>. </p> <p>Pearce and van Houten first started dating in 2015, just months after the actor split from his ex-wife Mestitz. </p> <p>A year later, Pearce and van Houten went on to have a child together named Monte. </p> <p><em>Image: SplashNews.com/ Shutterstock Editorial</em></p> <p> </p>

Ash Barty shares pregnancy update

<p>Ash Barty is expecting her second child with husband Garry Kissick, and while the tennis legend is excited for the future, she has shared some of her concerns with raising two young children.</p> <p>The couple already share son Hayden, 18 months, and are set to have a newborn and a toddler to care for. </p> <p>"It's been probably the best part of my life, being able to share this next chapter with my husband Garry, and we have no idea what we're doing but he's alive and he's happy," she told the <em>Herald Sun</em>.</p> <p>"Terrified for what is going to come next but we'll figure it out, I'm sure," she added. </p> <p>The 28-year-old also said that while it's not in her nature to deal with "chaos" she hopes to make it work. </p> <p>"As an athlete I used to be the most meticulous, organised person and now it's absolute carnage," she said. </p> <blockquote class="instagram-media" style="background: #FFF; <p>Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster have confirmed their relationship earlier this month, and as the couple ramp up their public appearances together, it has been reported that prior to getting together, they took their respective spouses on double dates.</p> <p>Jackman and Foster grew closer while starring together in the Broadway musical <em>The Music Man</em> from December 2021 until January 2023.</p> <p>Now, an insider has revealed to the <em>Daily Mail </em>that Jackman and his ex-wife, Deborra-lee Furness, would enjoy date nights together with Foster and her ex-husband, Ted Griffin.</p> <p>The source also said that after every performance of their show the pair would share an "uncomfortably" long embrace in front of everyone. </p> <p>“It was odd,” they continued. “In a way it was uncomfortable. As the entire cast is trying to get to their dressing rooms upstairs, we all had to pass the two of them hugging. They didn’t even hide it! It was a long embrace … and it was weird.”</p> <p>“I thought she was just a needy actress,” they added.</p> <p>“That’s the way it appeared to me - the needy actress needed the hug from the big superman.”</p> <p>This comes after the couple were <a href="https://au.lifestyle.yahoo.com/hugh-jackman-and-sutton-foster-fans-notice-odd-detail-in-new-loved-up-pics-disappointing-004854401.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">recently spotted holding hands</a> for a lowkey outing in new pap photos. </p> <p>In one snap, Jackman appeared to be looking at the cameras while laughing, leading some to believe the pair called the press on themselves. </p> <p>"They need to stop calling the press on themselves," one user wrote on Instagram.</p> <p>"Looking right at the camera lol," another said, while a third simply added, "Disappointing."</p> <p>"Please, stop calling the paparazzi. <p>After months of speculation that Hugh Jackman and his <em>The Music Man </em>co-star, Sutton Foster, were together, the pair finally went public with their romance last week where they were spotted holding hands after an intimate dinner. </p> <p>Now, a little over a year after  Hugh Jackman and Deborra-lee Furness announced their split, a source close to Furness has revealed her surprising reaction to the news. </p> <p>“Deborra-Lee feels a sense of relief to be honest with you,” the source told <em>Daily Mail</em>.</p> <p>The source added that the 68-year-old had her suspicions and was repeatedly told the pair were just friends. </p> <p>“She has been plagued with suspicions. Nostradamus' 2025 predictions revealed

<p>Nostradamus a 16th-century French Astrologer known as the "prophet of doom" has some wild predictions for the upcoming year. </p> <p>The astrologer has been credited with foretelling the Great Fire of London, Hitler’s rise to power, the September 11 attacks, the Covid-19 pandemic, and last year’s New Year’s Day earthquake. </p> <p>His predictions were published in his book “Les Prophéties” in 1555</p> <p>Last year, the astrologer was credited for predicting the powerful earthquake that rocked Japan on New Year's.</p> <p>A few of his other predictions for 2024 included the abdication of King Charles, war with China, a new pope, and the world getting closer to a climate apocalypse. </p> <p>Now, his predictions for 2025 have been revealed with one of them being the potential end to the Ukraine conflict. </p> <p>He wrote: "Through long war all the army exhausted,so that they do not find money for the soldiers; instead of gold or silver, they will come to coin leather, Gallic brass, and the crescent sign of the Moon."</p> <p>The astrologer predicted that financial ruin and exhausted resources could spell the end of an ongoing armed conflict, which many of his followers assumed is a reference to Russia and Ukraine. </p> <p>However, he wrote that England will be beset by  “cruel wars” and will face an “ancient plague” that will be “worse than enemies.”</p> <p>He also wrote: "Garden of the world near the new city, In the path of the hollow mountains: It will be seized and plunged into the Tub, Forced to drink waters poisoned by sulphur."</p> <p>Some believe the "garden of the world" refers to the Amazon forest, with plunging into a tub and sipping sulphur implying that there will be floods and volcanic activity. </p> <p>While most of his predictions seem bleak, more often than not they miss the mark. </p> <p><em>Image: Shutterstock</em></p>

Young influencer's "sick act" while 80-year-old boyfriend is hospitalised

<p>Social media users have been left horrified by a young influencer's lack of sympathy after she shared a "disturbing" video of herself dancing next to her elderly boyfriend's hospital bed. </p> <p>Bronwin Aurora, 22, filmed herself doing a trending TikTok dance and boasting about being included in her 80-year-old boyfriend's will, dancing around the elderly man who was lying in his hospital bed surrounded by medical equipment. </p> <p>“Guys, I got on the will, should I pull the plug?” she captioned the clip. </p> <p>The video gained nearly half a million views, and while some thought it might be satirical, others expressed their concern and outrage. </p> <p>“Love your care for humanity," one commented sarcastically. </p> <p>“I’m going to cry. I hope he gives everything to his kids," another wrote. </p> <p>“A prelude to an episode of Law and Order,” commented a third. </p> <p>Some even suggested it was "elder abuse", while many called her out for the "sickening" and "outrageous" act calling it "a new low". </p> <p>The 22-year-old appears to have a "sugar daddy" arrangement with the man, who often buys her extravagant gifts, including a $20k Cartier bracelet, among other things. </p> <p>While the influencer did not disclose her boyfriend's medical condition, she has been documenting his health across multiple posts on social media, with the most recent one showing him in a wheelchair. </p> <p>In one video she even told fans that she "loves" him and doesn't shy away from sharing details of her relationship online. </p> <p><em>Images: TikTok</em></p> <p> </p>

102-year-old woman fulfils bucket list dream of visiting Australia

<p>A 102-year-old woman has successfully fulfilled her bucket list dream of visiting all seven continents with the help of two Youtubers. </p> <p>Dorothy Smith, who lives in a retirement home in San Francisco, had travelled all over the world except Australia. </p> <p>When the guys behind the YouTube channel <em>Yes Theory,</em> Staffan Taylor and Ammar Kandil heard about this, they were determined to make her dream come true.</p> <p>The two men, who met her in the retirement village, asked her "‘is there anything on your bucket list you haven’t ticked off yet?’ and she said, ‘I’ve been to six continents but I’ve never been to Australia,’” <em>Yes Theory</em> filmmaker Staffan Taylor explained.</p> <p>The centenarian recalled how she received a note from them. </p> <p>“He gave me this little piece of paper that said something about ‘dreams come true’,” Dorothy told <em>Sunrise </em>on Tuesday.</p> <p>“I showed it to a friend, and they said, ‘look, there is no signature, there is no telephone number, there is no address — it’s fake’,” she added.</p> <p>But it wasn't a scam and with the help of Destination NSW and Qantas, the Youtubers made her dream come true, and shared a clip of her experience online. </p> <p>She chose Sydney as her Aussie destination because of the Opera House, which she is twice the age of. </p> <p>“This is like Disneyland for grown ups,” she joked while visiting the iconic landmark.</p> <p>She also visited visited Wild Life Sydney Zoo to see some koalas and kangaroos, the Botanic Gardens, the Museum of Contemporary Art, and went for a cruise on the harbour. </p> <p><iframe title="YouTube video player" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/38PwG3zGDDI?si=dqhuCIqOoKfokdCq" width="560" height="315" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="allowfullscreen"></iframe></p> <p>She described Aussies as “charming” and complimented the food, scenery and weather. </p> <p>“These two gentlemen have been delightful, and there is a whole crew, and each one is as nice as the other, and they have been around this town very well,” she told <em>Sunrise</em>. </p> <p>“It’s just beautiful — I’ve seen things like the zoo and the real animals.</p> <p>“It is much more metropolitan (than I would have thought), and the people are charming,” she added. </p> <p>The centenarian said it is "never too late" for a new adventure, saying: “You can either rust out or wear out and I’m trying to wear out rather than rust out." </p> <p><em>Yes Theory</em> co-founder Ammar Kandil who went on the trip with Dorothy and her daughter, said he was in awe of the centenarian's curiosity during the trip and had been inspired by her. </p> <p>“One of the cornerstones of the experiences in our videos is actually whenever we go somewhere, we always try to ask the elders and get a lot of the wisdom out of them from their life experiences,” he said.</p> <p>“Staffan (and I) had the opportunity to double down and do a full episode on elders, only to meet the most epic one of all (Dorothy) — it doesn’t get better.</p> <p>“(As soon as we heard) we just went for it, and it was a no-brainer — as soon as she said she hadn’t been to Australia, we thought God bless her soul.</p> <p>“She is so powerful and still moves, and if anyone can go to Australia at 102 years old, it is Dorothy.”</p> <p>“Even at 102 years old she is still appreciating everything she is seeing,” he added. </p> <p><em>Images: Yes Theory/ Youtube</em></p> <p> </p>

<p>Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas have celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary. </p> <p>The Hollywood couple, who've been together since 1998, took a trip down memory lane and shared photos from their nuptials as well as loving tributes to each other. </p> <p>Zeta-Jones shared three photos of their wedding day and the moment they officially became husband and wife. </p> <p>"24 years ago, I said, I do," she began in the caption.</p> <p>"Happy Anniversary darling Michael. Prince Philip's final phone call to King Charles revealed

<p>Prince Philip was known for his quick wit and sense of humour, and now his family have shared their favourite moments with him in the BBC documentary <em>Prince Philip: The Family Remembers</em>. </p> <p>In the documentary, King Charles revealed the cheeky remarks the Duke made in their final phone call just hours before his passing on April 9, 2021 at the age of 99. </p> <p>Charles recalled discussing the Duke's upcoming 100th birthday celebrations and having to raise his voice so his father could hear him better, saying: “We’re talking about your birthday! And whether there’s going to be a reception!” </p> <p>The Duke quipped: “Well, I’ve got to be alive for it, haven’t I?”</p> <p>King Charles fondly shared what he said to his father's cheeky remark, “I told him ‘I knew you’d say that!'”.</p> <p>In another part of the documentary, the monarch recalled the benefits of having young parents. </p> <p>“He was marvellous at arranging silly games. I mean, the fun of having obviously young parents was… there were lots of chasing around and mad things," he said.</p> <p>Prince William also shared some of his fond memories with his late grandfather, recalling the pranks they used to pull together, and one of them being squirting mustard all over the ceiling - much to the Queen’s annoyance.</p> <p> “He used to take the lid off [the tube] and put it in your hands … and then he’d squish your hands together to fire the mustard onto the ceiling," William said. </p> <p>“He used to get in a lot of trouble from my grandmother,” he added.</p> <p>William’s cousins, Princess Anne’s children Zara Tindall and Peter Phillips, also remembered the same prank. </p> <p>“He gets you to hold it in your hands and I can’t remember exactly what he says — but he ends up slamming your hands together… it goes all over the ceiling,” Zara said.</p> <p>Her brother Peter added: “I actually think the marks are still there.”</p> <p><em>Image: Canadian Press/ Shutterstock Editorial</em></p>

Queen Camilla "heartbroken" by death of rescue dog

They found [Bluebell] two or three weeks later, wandering about in woods, no hair on her, covered in sores, virtually dead. "This can't be real": Couple's unbelievable op-shop find

<p>An Australian man has made an epic discovery in his local op shop. </p> <p>Rob Klaric was browsing Lifeline's Mosman store on Sydney's north shore when he spotted two framed photos of himself and his wife, which they had lost while moving house more than 30 years ago. </p> <p>The photos were taken in 1988 when he and Leonie, his wife of 35 years, were backpacking across Europe. </p> <p>But turns out luck was on their side and they were reunited with their prized possession more than three decades later. </p> <p>"I'm still buzzing with this. I mean, what's the chances?" he told 2GB's Ben Fordham. </p> <p>"I've walked into a store and I see these pictures and I thought I was hallucinating."</p> <p>The photos hold special meaning for the couple, as it was taken in his mum's backyard when they went to visit her in Europe. </p> <p>"We backpacked across Europe, [went] to my mother's place in the north of Italy – so the photos are iconic because it's [taken] in my mother's backyard and Mum's just passed away a few years ago now."</p> <p>A year later, the couple got married, and the year following they had these images framed before they lost them in a move in 1933, when a removal company misplaced the boxes they were packed in. </p> <p>"I still tremble because I thought, 'this can't be real'."</p> <p>"The ironic thing is that my picture, apologies Leonie, mine was more expensive. It was $12 and hers was $8," he said. </p> <p>Klaric wondered if his late mother had something to do with the special find. </p> <p>"But look, it's got my mum, my beautiful old Italian mum, it's got her fingerprints all over it," he said. </p> <p>"Because those pictures were right in the middle [of the shop], on the floor, you would have never seen it unless you walked through the store. <p>King Charles has turned 76! </p> <p>The royal marked his birthday by opening two food distribution hubs, as part of his Coronation Food Project launched one year ago, with the aim of bridging the gap between food poverty and food waste. </p> <p>His Majesty visited one of the new hubs in south London on Thursday, which was hosting a "surplus food festival" as part of its opening, where they made meals using food that might otherwise have gone to waste. </p> <p>He also opened the second Coronation Food Hub in Merseyside in northwest England, in a virtual ceremony.</p> <p>The monarch spent his birthday touring the new facility before meeting beneficiaries and representatives of food banks, schools and community groups.</p> <p>Since it was launched, the food project has saved  853 tonnes of surplus food - the equivalent of 2.2 million meals - from going to waste. Deborra-Lee Furness' friend makes bombshell claim

<p>A friend of Hugh Jackman’s ex-wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, has claimed that rumours of the actor's affair with co-star Sutton Foster are true. </p> <p>British actress and photographer Amanda de Cadenet hinted that the rumours were true in the comments section of an Instagram video that alleged Hugh Jackman left his wife for Foster, after the two fell in love while starring together in <em>The Music Man </em>on Broadway. </p> <p>“You are on point with this one,” de Cadenet claimed in response. “My beloved friend Deb is about to have her glow up any moment FYI !”</p> <p><em>Page Six</em> reportedly reached out to reps for Jackman, Foster and Furness for comment.</p> <p>Jackman and Furness announced their separation after 27 years of marriage in September 2023. </p> <p>They share two adopted children together. </p> <p>At the time, a source told the publication that the <em>Wolverine</em> actor was "devastated" by the split. </p> <p>In October, another source told Page Six that Foster and Jackman are "in love" but keeping their romance under wraps. </p> <p>Another source previously told news.co,.au they are “100 percent together and are in love and want to spend the rest of their lives together.”</p> <p><em>Image: Instagram</em></p> <p> </p>

"Hardest year of my life": Prince William's candid admission

<p>Prince WIlliam has made a candid admission about his life this past year, following the double cancer diagnoses of his father King Charles and wife Kate Middleton. </p> <p>When asked how this year has been in an interview with UK print media in Cape Town during his trip to South Africa, the royal replied: “Honestly? It’s been dreadful.</p> <p>“It’s probably been the hardest year in my life.”</p> <p>The Prince of Wales, who took time off while Princess Kate was being treated added:  “So, trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult.</p> <p>“But I’m so proud of my wife, I’m proud of my father, for ­handling the things that they have done. But from a personal family point of view, it’s been, yeah, it’s been brutal.”</p> <p>While the King and Princess Kate have both issued statements about their health struggles, this is the first time William has spoken candidly on the subject. </p> <p>The Prince of Wales is in South Africa as part of Earthshot Week, and presented the Earthshot Prize Awards on November 6. </p> <p>When asked if his family had watched the live broadcast of the awards ceremony, he replied: “I don’t know yet. I haven’t clocked in with them yet but I hope they did.</p> <p>“But it’s interesting you say that, ’cause I couldn’t be less relaxed this year, so it’s very interesting you’re all seeing that. But it’s more a case of just crack on and you’ve got to keep going.</p> <p>“I enjoy my work and I enjoy pacing myself and keeping sure I have got time for my family too.”</p> <p>He also shared an update on his wife's condition saying that "she's doing well.
